Posting iphone and ipad to UK it's a problem

Friends came to stay a couple of weeks ago and the 14 year old lad left his ipad and iphone behind when they went home.
I had to go to Aus so we didn't find out until I got back, yesterday.
Because he's a good lad and they're long time friends we dutifully packed up the stuff and took it the post office, to send registered post to the UK.
But, the post master, who's a pretty good bloke said, " don't do it".
Apparently phones and the like will get kicked back and not be allowed on international carriers. We'd also lose our money.

Bugger, the little lad has all his music, movies, sports comps and contacts on these bloody things and I can't find a way to get them back to him.

Any suggestions, sensible or otherwise gratefully received.

Try fed-EX. Give them a ring first. The main problem will be declaring the battery. You have to work out what sort of battery is inside, and label the package with the correct decal.

(I shipped a couple of fitness watches to my kids a while ago - took me a few days to work out the requirements for shipping, simply because of the effing battery).

Did you have the correct battery decal on the package? That is an absolute must.

    Read this pdf

    https://www.fedex.com/content/dam/fe...rview_2018.pdf

The pictures (decals) are on the second page. Which one(s) you need depend upon the battery specifications. Just print it off, and stick it on the shipping box.

If you can print a 'decal' on a home printer then it's not a decal...just a label.

All his movies and piccies and stuff should be on icloud,
2,000 GBP should get him a nice new iPad Pro and iPhone XS for Chrimbo

On a serious note; sounds nuts that they are sent back for batteries that are freely allowed on airplanes.

If you get pissed off with aFed Ex, most little shopping malls have a UPS inside. Maybe they can vouch for whats inside the packaging?

Just make a video of you smashing both items with a sledge hammer and put it on YouTube. Hopefully, this will teach the child to be more appreciative of others' generosity. Bring 'em up tough, that's what I say !

No they told me no batteries at all so I said there was not one (non detachable) thought it might go through anyway, but not.

Apparently phones with removable batteries will get sent back, iPads and iPhones have non removeable batteries and are allowed. Up to 2 in each parcel.

You may well be right. But, after an hour of conversation with the lovely lady at FEDEX we seem to have come to an agreement. They'll pick it up tomorrow and it should be there in days.

I have to say over the past decade or so there has scarcely been a month go by when someone I know, or an acquaintance with a friend or relative, is not returning to Blighty who could be entrusted to deliver some item or other.

To be fair Dill I think he was trying to avoid disappointment for us down the track when the kit got sent back. He runs a small village post office and is never anything but helpful.

^ he's probably had loads of phones with removable batteries sent back or people putting the wrong labels on and was sure you'd fuck it up. Only kidding mate I'm sure he's a good bloke if you recommend him like yourself for getting the kids stuff sent quickly.
