I didn't say it was going to be easy...

Black Point on the south coast of Western Australia.
A mate sent me the pictures. The lucky fellow lives an earn little / spend little life and has plenty of time for fun.
Cool, deserted, no scooters. Me like.
^ Over thirty years later the lessons learned from that tragedy are still regularly mentioned during safety reviews.
Safety has always been driven by cost, this incident had a cost in the billions, the oil companies, to protect their profits realised that they needed to bring in safety systems to protect their immense profits! This incident was the drive to bring in "safety systems" PTW, MOC, standardised procedures and a review of the safety culture, the Cullen report and the outcome changed the way the oilfield operates.
The UK government prior to this incident didn't give a dam about safety, their priority was to get as much oil to shore as quickly as possible, Thatcher was fixated on crippling the miners - which she did!
Missing the two ladies in my life not missing the house refurbishment though.

A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.
Quality shot KT.
The missus is looking elegant and lovely.
That looks like mobile phone artificial bokeh? Not quite like the real think but focuses attention nicely on the subject.
Needs cropped just a smidge.
Here you go.
^ Phone didn't have time to focus properly meow meow doesn't like being picked up much she isn't a lap cat either. Just prefers to cuddle up in the bed at night. So had about a second to take the shot, Gert was ok she likes having her picture taken.
Fascists dress in black and go around telling people what to do, whereas priests... more drink!
The view out my office window most of yesterday.
How far down do those pilings go, Mendip ?
And how high off the water is the bottom ? 40 ft ?
Statfjord A is in about 145m of water. The topside is about 25m above sea level - that's controlled by safety and the height of the 100 year wave. If you go to places like West Africa with small seas the topsides barely clear the sea surface.
This particular platform is old and started producing oil in 1979. It's due to be decommissioned in 2022, hopefully creating more work.
