Sending stuff to LOS from UK

    Morning all,

So, I'm in the UK for a month and I've been shopping.
So much so that I need to send about 30 Kg of brass goods by courier or the like.

There's a plethora of companies on the interweb but I wondered if any one had any recommendations based on personal experience.

I'm looking for a door to door service that will deliver within a couple of weeks.

    Cheers

I shipped a box about that weight few years back with DHL. Think there are cheaper but service was very good. Will the items be subject to duty?

That's a good question and I'm not sure.
It's all old brass fittings from my father's' house, a port hole and a couple of brass navigation lights.

Why not just pay the excess luggage and take it to the airport yourself?

Have it addressed to a Thai, written in Thai, and sent by a Thai, written in Thai. And marked as a gift.

Customs are (slightly) less inclined to extort their own.

Obviously people don't take everything they want to move from a-b with them on a plane because of cost.

It's a service offered to people with their shit together enough to avoid paying for excess luggage at the airport.

If you know what the term means then you'll know they're not using the term correctly.

    Advertisers do that, eh?

    excess baggage noun [ U ]

UK /ɪkˌses ˈbęɡ.ɪdʒ/ US /ɪkˌses ˈbęɡ.ɪdʒ/ uk also excess luggage

bags that weigh more than the allowed amount for a single passenger, or the money you are charged to take them onto an aircraft:
We had to pay excess baggage.
He arrived with 88 pounds of excess baggage.

Well, I've pointed out that you first suggested the op simply pay excess baggage.

Have you ever actually done that?

I did once, 25 years ago from the UK to BKK and 20 kilos cost my company 350 quid.

You then moved the goalposts and put up a link for a company that works out much cheaper than paying for excess baggage.

So there was basically a degree of confusion caused by the fact that you didn't understand what the term 'excess baggage' means.

I helped you understand this, though you're too full of yourself to admit it, and possibly I helped the op by clearing this up too.

No surprise to see 'pilot light' on this like a fly on shit either.

    Good day to you.
