I have known "Stang" - the ugliest Shih Tzu on the Soi Ramkhamheang for 4 years. The dog originally belongs to a Thai girl, but since she recently went through a divorce and got a new bf, the dog seemed like a burden. Meanwhile, I was happy to "take care", took her for a walk, fed her like no one ever did before, took her to a vet, etc.
Now the girl is moving out of her shared house into the apartment and they don't allow dogs. She wants to take dog to her hometown to stay with family which means I'll never see Stang again.
This would be fine if I didn't see how kids in my wife's village treat animals. Hit them on the head with a metal pipe, "play" roughly and just leave them roam like....well....dogs.
But Stang is now a different animal. She's used to luxuries, sleeps every night in an air con room (and on our bed) and when I try to leave her in girl's house she will bark and cry non stop. She's probably scared to be alone and sweat like a pig outside.
Now, I could probably convince this girl to leave me her dog, but I also need to convince wife. We live in a townhouse and don't have a yard, which means someone needs to be with her all the time. Also she's making excuses that when we travel, no one will be able to take care Stang. I find that silly. Almost everyone here in the neighborhood has a dog and I could probably give a few hundred a day for people to feed her and take her pee.
So, how to convince wife?
