Just 7 years I was as agile as Asimo a state of the art Honda product
But now I doubt if I could dismount like this Bostonian
many more in he links on utube AI is 'leaping' ahead
Great video. It also takes penalties though a long way to go before terminator level.
Will Robots make us redundant
Hmmm. Many , many years ago when i worked in the brewery and dairy industry the highest paid tradesman on the site was the Polisher. His job was to polish the inside of the welded joints to a mirror finish so bacteria couldn't stick there. The welding itself on straight pipes was done by machine but he still had to polish the inside.
That is quite a complex and unique task for someone to build a robot to do!
So my answer is no.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.
You people, you think I know feck nothing; I tell you: I know feck all
Those who cannot change their mind, cannot change anything.
There's an AI thread on SC - maybe this can be merged? d44 is being naughty again I think - he deserves to be spanked by a robot. Lol.
Re: the OP, I've just watched a vid (CNN, I think) of a robot making an Ikea chair. Robot was made by NU Singapore scientists. My reaction after the vid was, in one way it's good that the robot was able to do the task. Another part of me asked, but what about the carpenters? And another part asked, will robots be able to make the Matrioshka (Russian) dolls?
I think robots/automation will displace many jobs in the future. Whether it becomes a Terminator or Matrix scenario remains to be seen.
The latest from Boston Dynamics.
It's amazing how seemingly sentient they are becoming.
