Happy to hear that HW. You say you still get cravings, is it for ecigs or proper cigs or either?

I was what you call a 'social smoker' for about three years.
I'd buy a lighter and cigs at the pub and I was off.
I had about 40 lighters at home. :)
You're still hooked though if you can't have a pint without ciggie. Sometimes I'd go out for a drink just because I needed a cig.
Good luck dill...as you said it gets easier.
In twelve years I've taken two drags.
It was fuckin disgusting.
Social smoker.
I have one these:

It's nicotine only, no flavouring. I travel with it so I can have a quick smoke in the plane toilet on long haul flights. Tend to get a craving just as I'm polishing off the port with the cheese board.
I used to love smelling others smoke and would crave a ciggie but now I never think about cigs or crave for.
I am now addicted to vaping
I stick to a British tobacco flavour liquid @ £1 a 10ml bottle (18mg/ml nicotine) Lasts about 3 days.
Tried loads of flavours and nic strengths, different vaporizers etc.
True DK. My biggest trigger is after hitting a golf ball, then while driving towards it in a buggy. Yes the coffee and booze and post-sex and sudden stress or happiness over something unexpected were all major triggers and hurdles that still raise their heads occasionaly, but that fucking ride in the golf car is the hardest trigger to fight for some reason!.
For any nicotine via any delivery system. Should have mentioned before for people trying to quit, I also used a product called Nicorette Quickmist which is a nicotine spray you squit under your tongue. FFS do not ever use this, it works perfectly and you won't want a cigarette or vape but it's surely the most efficient way to get a nicotine hit there is and you'll find yourself using it more and more instead of less and less.
Yeah....in part.
The shit that is the principle make up of commercially enhanced factory-made variety is quite astounding.
Simple comparative observations of smokers that imbibe in pure unadulterated tobacco [roll-your-own] aren't that addicted [if at all] as those who take to the commercial tailor-made.
Not even close.
I stopped smoking many years ago, never smoked at all for years, about a year ago being well into my sixties and in good health! I started to smoke the occasional cigar, no real concerns about my health now, which was the main reason I quit.
Once or twice a month I will have a cigar outside with the first cup of coffee, it is so good, thoroughly recommend! :)
The coffee and cigarette buzz is something you never forget!
Bought this for £15 with £4 menthol refills saved me £10 the first week, then about £30 a week saved thereafter that'll be a cool £1200 this time next year.

Quitting nicotine is harder than alcohol, heroin, and cocaine all together. The only harder things are benzodiaepines(valium etc) and methadone - total nightmare.
I quit 4 years ago for 3 years then had a cigar, then another.....
This year, I quit and it has been easy. I learned a lot from Alan Carr 4 years ago - nicotine is a stupid drug. I used to think it relaxed me, when in fact it does the opposite, it's a stimulant.
Cold turkey is the only way. "The ony way out is through"
2 1/2 months and never had a craving after 7 days.
^^Make sure you put it away daily.
Smoking itself is mainly about rewarding yourself, or so you think... until you read that Allen Carr book.
Most of my cravings were always after I finished doing something then telling myself- 'Ahh, I'll have a nice cigarette now'
Giving up alcohol is easy, even for an alcoholic. 2/3 days of Delerium tremens and no sleep/food and it's over. Staying stopped is the difficult part. But alcoholism is a disease(physical, mental, and spiritual). Physically, the body recovers after 1 year. It's the mental obsession that gets most, thinking that after 1/5/25 years they can handle one that gets most. All I have is a daily reprieve, contingent on my spiritual condition.
Swedish Snuss is good if you want to taper off the fags.
Gave up smoking about 10 years ago 20/40 a day man don't know why just started disliking that taste i was getting whilst smoking.Smoked the same brands for years maybe the ones in Thailand where fake.Anyway decided to quit when i was in Blighty for a few weeks only had 2 more cigarettes during that time i went out on long walks/jogging everyday in the countryside, about 6 hours everyday to knackered to smoke after that amount of exercise.Gert had been nagging me for years so it was a nice surprise for her when i returned to Thailand smoke free.
The plus side to quitting your pint of Guinness will taste so much nicer after a few weeks.
Great to read all the trials and tribulations and to see many who have kicked the habit is really encouraging for me.
I salute the lot of you and will do my best to walk in your footsteps.
Thank you!
Major trigger tonight! Felt the urge for a smoke instantly, but walked away had a few vapes and 5 minutes later the urge had passed.
I have two tips for quitting. Move to Australia. The latest tax increase has them up to around $35.00(approx 875 Baht) per pack. The second is the way I finally quit 14 years ago after many failed attempts.
I started by not having a cigarette after breakfast. Then when i'd got use to that I waited until morning tea. when I was comfortable waiting until morning tea. I waited until lunchtime. In stages I then went to afternoon tea. Then after work. Then when I arrived home, eventually after dinner. Eventually I got to 3 a day and then resolved not to buy another packet once the current packet was finished. Still remember that last cigarette. I smoked it down to the filter. Still got a small dose of the heeby jeebies but it was much more manageable. It also got me out of the habit of having that "comforter" in my hand. Haven't smoked for 14 years and have no desire to do so. It worked for me, rather than just going from 20 a day to zero. Vapes appear to me as just swapping one addiction for another.
Nice one HC!
I'm seriously of my tree tight jojoba now do I not wjzy8 your saying. Bet 0n 9th like cargo nnnr6. Night night.
smoke in the evenings if I have a beer, never without grog. just started the vaping thing and transitioning over. when I do "fail' and have a ciggie (usually when my vape thing has run out of battery) I don't really enjoy them. amazing how much better you feel even after a few days without
Didn't know you smoked, Dilly...
(aside from cock of course)... :chitown:
just smoke meth brah.... much more healthy innit....:)
Coincidentally just seen an article that plain packaging for ciggies in NZ takes effect today.
Part of a larger effort to make the entire country smoke-free by 2025.
Easy. Don't buy. Avoid smokers. No alcohol for 2 weeks. Chew gum. Drink more coffee or do things to stay busy.
