When I retire I plan to live in Scotland in the highlands 3 months a year, Thailand 6 months a year, and travelling 3 months.

Can't plan retirement as I have 3 kids in University and school and am starting a new business venture.

Always plan to go back to Australia and the family are ready to do so.

Up to Daddy now to make things happen.

Where abouts in the highlands just so i don't accidently end up too close, my family business was only a few miles from Aberlour. Obviously I'll be avoiding that area and aiming for the opposite side of the Cairngorm national park so you may have that side. All the best and lovely towns/ villages round there such as Dufftown, Grantown of Spey (my favourite) and even Aviemore only 30 miles away. It's all yours!!!!!!

Yepper Scotland is quite pleasant, I really liked the Outer Hebrides, and the haggis and black pudding breakfasts, great fuel for the body.
Spain; Asturias and Galicia are also fascinating.
My next big cycling adventure will be to ride from southern Portugal to Denmark.

Similar to myself, but I have my retirement planned for 17-20 years in the future.

My ancestors come from Mull. I went there with one of my daughters last year. Also the Black Isle and Tain. We stayed in Crieff Hydro 5 years ago, that is a nice part of the country too. My brother has a delicatessen in Dollar and a couple of pubs in Aberdeen.
Maybe we could do some business!

Grandfather passed on last year and left some money unexpectedly. Guess army pensions are pretty decent. Had some saving built up over the years so combined them. Not enough for Norwich or any of the surrounding towns, so Great Yarmouth it is. Good rail and bus links and a 5 min walk to the 'Golden Mile'. It's just around the corner from a table dancing club- Mayfair it ain't!

What's changed in Aus to the point you don't like it?

The nanny state has gone insane. $3.00 for a liter of water, $1.30 for a liter of petrol.
In Sydney they serve beer in plastic mugs, because drunken mugs glass each other over pent up rage about the nanny state.
I've changed my plans; to forget any visit to OZ. Who needs that shit!
