I'm ok for now, but what if age starts acting up and I piss my bed?
Has it happened to anyone and how did you deal with the problem?

Old man prostrate syndrome.
They don't even have decent tampons in Thailand, where the heck am I going to find diapers for adults?
I believe the Post said the Paragon will remain open tomorrow...btw, a friend warned that the XXL diaper packs don't fit easily into the shopping carts...
You know you're old when your get up and go has got up and gone.
On a more serious note, I would get your blood sugar checked. Unless you are drinking copious amounts of beer in the evening then it is a signal to have it checked. Don't eat after 6pm and miss breakfast then pop to the local clinic for a check. It was probably the first signal that I missed ...
You could always take the drastic action and have a colostomy bag fitted, takes the problem away.
You also have the added bonus of having a dump anywhere you want if you so desire.
Old guy I knew said his most satisfying dump was on a tour of Buckingham palace
I helped to take care of my Uncle till he passed @ 91.
Yep, adult nappies are the go.
If you can't find them, maybe ask a Nursing Home if there is one in the area.
Stop fluids at least 2 hours before bed.
If you start to cramp (leg cramps are the worst), 1/2 a large or a small Thai Banana for desert and/or, if that
doesn't work, a vitamin tablet with the evening meal.
Mattress protector and a couple of towels over that (easy to wash) and under the bed sheet so you don't feel like you are
sleeping on plastic and that the cotton can breath.
I second this. Diabetes is a serious condition and best found early. Though I seem to recall that a strong thirst goes with it.
All the same, it is an easy test.
I usually get up twice (sometimes 3 times) during the night, but that's normal for 62. Apparently your bladder shrinks a bit with age.
As long as there is no constriction of urine flow your prostate is ok. Just get a blood sugar test.....I think you just pee onto a strip of paper.
Just piss and be happy...Heh...We're born of salt water...Stardust, actually, if you listen to Sagan...
Time for a Bukowski poem:
The Last Days of the Suicide Kid
I can see myself now
after all these suicide days and nights,
being wheeled out of one of those sterile rest homes
(of course, this is only if I get famous and lucky)
by a subnormal and bored nurse
there I am sitting upright in my wheelchair
almost blind, eyes rolling backward into the dark part of my skull
looking
for the mercy of death
Isn’t it a lovely day, Mr. Bukowski
O, yeah, yeah
the children walk past and I don’t even exist
and lovely women walk by
with big hot hips
and warm buttocks and tight hot everything
praying to be loved
and I don’t even
exist
It’s the first sunlight we’ve had in 3 days,
Mr. Bukowski.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
there I am sitting upright in my wheelchair,
myself whiter than this sheet of paper,
bloodless,
brain gone, gamble gone, me, Bukowski,
gone
Isn’t it a lovely day, Mr. Bukowski
O, yeah, yeah pissing in my pajamas, slop drooling out of
my mouth.
2 young schoolboys run by —
Hey, did you see that old guy
Christ, yes, he made me sick!
after all the threats to do so
somebody else has committed suicide for me
at last.
the nurse stops the wheelchair, breaks a rose from a nearby bush,
puts it in my hand.
I don’t even know
what it is. it might as well be my pecker
for all the good
it does.
In general its about water management your body needs a certain amount of water (not beer that dehydrated) and each person is different. The climate you live in has a big bearing as in a hot climate you will need more water than in a cold climate. What you do also makes a difference if you sit all day you will need less than someone who has a active life.
When you rehydrate is also important, keeping fluid intake constant throughout the day or slurping before sleep makes a difference.
You have to learn what your body needs, I have always been susceptible to cramp after doing a lot of walking or heavy work and learned long ago how much fluid I needed to prevent it and get a balance between excessive urination. Salt is also important as a lot of salts are lost with sweat.
But I much prefer to have to get up for a leak rather than have cramp at night.
Magnesium supplements...The "new" magic...
Saw Palmetto and other herbs / compounds will relieve the inflammation and therefore swelling of an enlarged prostate (hopefully benign enlargement), since the prostate surrounds the urethra. This causes difficulty passing urine, and in turn an incompletely emptied bladder. Following which you need to pee again because the half-full bladder has been topped up.....
The reason I was talking about was the other, more ordinary reason : aging causes the gums to recede and the bladder to shrink. At night, I get up 2, sometimes 3 times....... not so much because I desperately NEED to pee, but because I am a light sleeper and the message my bladder is sending keeps me awake.
