Thread: Do you like getting completely hammered?

3 years ago, the answer would have been yes, these days not at all,hardly ever. Toned it down significantly since turning 30. I do enjoy a cold beer with dinner, but just not to excess and oblivion anymore. Got better things to be doing with my life rather than recovering from the night(s) before: hiking, swimming,cooking and just pottering about the mean streets of Mandalay. Does kinda limit the ol' social life here a bit, it's a kinda heavy drinking expat scene here- no (well maybe a little) judgment, but it's just not my thing these days.

Potential non valentines dinner tonight with a group, but think I will makes my excuses and decline. Hard partying crowd in one of my favorite restaurants. Paranoid and somewhat aloof of me not wanting to attend? Perhaps.

Part of issue here for me in Mandalay is that everyone seems to know everyone. Don't have that Bangkok anonymity here . There is a nasty undercurrent of gossip and backstabbing, I'm not going to miss that aspect at all.

Don't go if you don't want to.

I also don't do the hard partying thing anymore. I may have a binge if I'm out with a big group of people (at least in the past), but generally I get buzzed on a few beers (2 or 3) these days (getting older I suppose). I tend to be a one-on-one or very small group person most of the time. I don't like overly big crowds.

Actually a very easy place to get entry into if you go in the morning- bit quirky like that this place.

I used to turn myself inside out on a 3 day twister on the wobbly pops. Sadly i can barely make 2 days now

Getting plastered isn't something I look forward to anymore, as it was for soooo many years before. It's the hangovers I can't deal with these days, after a big drink I'm fucked for 2-3 days and can barely function

Still enjoy a drink, but have learned when to stop or ease-off the pace a little now.

I've gotten blitzed with a few Ajarn members at a few parties in Bangkok.
I specifically remember throwing chunks the next day out the taxi window on the way to the airport in BKK. I don't ever remember being that hung over. Bad influence those people.

^lol.... I'm remembering the few times I did get totally hammered, few and far between. That was one of those unforgettable nights at Oh My Cod, which is now closed. Had a few gentlemen walk me home a few streets over from Khao San as I couldn't walk straight. lol. Gosh, those were the days.. (not).

Also drank with Topper and his wife....shhh!. Seen Topper drunk and almost get hit by a car crossing the road home. LOL!!! Very funny guy that Tops.
