Lil' Dick going to Laos next week

Just a mini-holiday (Vientiane).... will be going alone.

Booked a couple nice hotels (staying 10 days).

Any nice restaurants, must see places, recommendations, most welcome.

    Arigato!

Wouldn't mind having a toke, or 10 there... but if it's highly illegal, I won't.

10 days is a bit long for Vientiane. Consider some excursions - Vang Vieng, for example.

I am easily amused AO... hotels are quite swanky, own gym, spa bath in room, etc...

how's the night life there? non-existent, I take it...

Are you going to make an observation of how working as a teacher in Laos maybe more comfortable than any other occupation in Asia.

One night walk along the riverfront to spy things you can get in the south for 1/3rd the price. Still cheep by any standards. I love haggling with the girls, and still do. Love and haggle, Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.

I'll cut you some slack but most folks just wing it these days.
Myself it was like swimming in Louisiana, you know you throw the puppy in to see if a gator eats her while you take a jump in yourself.
    Simple and true.

Really though youtube ten things to do in VTE and go from there.
Myself I had to read as all the simple apps were still in development stages.

^I agree with the others, 10 days are too much for Vientiane. After Buddha Park, Patuxay monument, riverside, temples - what else is there? Try to consider Luang Prabang or VV. Enjoy your vacay. Cheers & happy holidays!

Rooftop of Bor Pen Yang for beer, food, pool and hot little birds, then over to the disco in the basement of the big Chinky hotel on the outskirts of town.

You'll have a different chick from each on every night.

Bor... things are going well... somehow got into selling fishing lures, seems to be the most profitable of my small businesses (dad's suggestion).

English cafe is going well... not focused so much on teaching kids, more on adults.

Yes a balloon ride in Vang Vieng is worth the 95usd as they will pick you up at your hotel and drop you off in time for brunch. That is if you live through the ordeal. I've yet to post up our landing as I just now have time to play with the footage but looking back we were cutting it close to the 50htz 220 v power lines on the landing. But yes I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

    Hey Dickie,

Didn't you promise to go and meet Za in Laos sometime last year on one of your secret Skype chats.

If you get bored, cross over and head to Udon and party on over there.
