This concern always cracks me up.

I'm gonna' deal with it the same way I deal with every adult birthday - by saying, "Yes, I want something. No recognition, please. You can start with not subjecting me to your questionable performing voices intoning that nauseating song or arriving at my doorstep with a carb-laden, sugar-filled, death cake as I'm not one of those narcissistic knut-stamps who demands to have his life celebrated every calendar year by doing something special."

Well, you may be a happy go lucky kinda guy, but I am the complete opposite.

Some things disturb me.... like the day I discovered Maki Hojo did scat videos.

Five years ago I had dreams almost every night about having spent half of my life already. Some of the dreams were about me turning into an atom and wondering the universe aimlessly. It was very scary and I know atoms don't have eyes, but I woke up and puked.

I did watch a scat video a day before, so maybe that was it.

64/10. 10 years in Spain before LOS, though working in different countries until retiring 9 years ago. Think what has helped me thus far is the ability to adapt to different environments, and as a priority being self sufficient. Never needed anyone to 'take care' of me, emotionally, domestically, or financially.

I'm 57, been here 13 years. Lived in HK for 12 years before that, so had been to Thailand many times for both biz and pleasure. First visit to Thailand was in 1992, backpacker.

Well, it's quite possible that you already have. You may even be 3/4 of the way through it for all the universe has decided. Embrace your inner-atom.

That is disturbing. I imagine wandering the universe endlessly might be even more so.

Curious? Polygamous is a little more to the point.

Thanks, man. It is interesting, pity some internet warriors are still around to try to spoil it by throwing childish insults.
Thai Visa is dead, I'm just going to use it for getting some good advice re visas/naturalization etc.
I wonder why forums are dying? I guess it's the smartphone and facebook. I remember the days of trekking down to the internet shop and logging onto TV and AJ, when there was fk all else to do.

I was backpaking then too. 60 baht a night on Kho Pa Ngan on Haad Rin beach for a nice bungalow. 10 baht for a meal. Some of the wildest 6 weeks I've ever had, even though only two bars!

So if you could go back, would you still come to Thailand/ SE Asia. I certainly would, enjoyed it all for the most part and looking forward to more years in LOS.

Would change me Aussie visit and gotten PR instead of a bit of Clinky and deportation.

North NSW to live and holidays in SEA would suit me.
