Danger to tourists” as filthy water continues to spew into Pattaya sea

Danger to tourists” as filthy water continues to spew into Pattaya sea

Sophon Cable TV reported on their Facebook page that filthy sewage infested water continued to spew into the sea near Walking Street.
Despite earlier reports that bacteria levels were far too high nothing has been done.
The sea represents a danger to tourists, they said.
Authorities were quoted as saying that heavy rains were making it impossible for a treatment plant to cope with the volume of filthy water.
Some 19 million baht has been allocated to address the problem but City hall have yet to make inroads into the problem.
Sophon showed pictures of the trash and dirty water on a wide swathe of the beach yesterday.
Posters on their site said it was just more of the same – a problem that has existed for a long time and is not being properly addressed.

A fine example of a burg that has cleared up sleaze and corruption re publican scene, the barfine pimping system, the Russki mafia, , aggressive ladyboys, std ridden ugandans hiv vehicles, over occupancy by keks ,fairy keks transbenders and off course desperate dannyboys crushed into street trash by a plague of balcony jumpers

THE PIPES THE PIPES ARE SPEWING

Of course the scum and slime who congregate may actually be rinsed and improved by some natural good plain old pissnshit

One may be surprised at the allowable filth permitted to be flushed in all countries, emerging countries or otherwise . The weather is uncontrollable, the filth has to go somewhere and that somewhere is the sea or rivers.

Have they still got that submarine there?

I always wondered why people would want to go underwater there to see turds and disused condoms.

The water can be recycled and the solids can be burned to produce steam that can produce electricity. Simple innit?

Of course. Many countries water treatments industries work on that model, I'm not sure of Thailand.

Unfortunately most countries system are designed for a "standard flow" capacity. The 'standard' may be a 50 year, 100 year storm volume, to be "contained". If the "exceptional storm" happens outlets are opened, the storm water along with normal industrial and domestic waste is flushed into rivers and the seas or it forces Manhole covers to pop ( flooding the areas around with untreated filth mixed in with the "exceptional storm" water.

The EU/local water companies keep records and if the trend is upwards the national "enforcers", in the UK OFWAT, can demand that the local water companies need to invest in further capacity. At a certain point OFWAT may allow an increase in the water charges to the areas customers to cover the costs.

They could do like they did in Bondi Beach Sydney and extend the outlet pipes a few ks off shore.
Then it could wash up on Koh Laan, but only the Chinese go there anyway.

Pat you'd be surprised perhaps at how many people - Thai & foreign - swim/jet ski/windsurf/etc in the ocean at Jomtien. On long weekends and with good weather it's packed!. Not for me though thank you, the pool at our condo will suffice.
