Tourist visa holders must show 20k baht in CASH when entering Thailand

Tourist visa holders must show 20k baht in CASH when entering Thailand

If you are entering Thailand on a tourist visa, you may be required to show immigration officials 20,000 baht in CASH.

Thaivisa has learnt that immigration officials at a number border checkpoints across Thailand are asking some people entering the country on a tourist visa to show 20,000 baht in cash.

Thaivisa understands the increased scrutiny being placed on tourist visa holders is to crackdown on foreigners who officials suspect are not genuine tourists and who may be working in Thailand illegally.

People trying to enter with history of tourist visa entries appear to be the ones under the most amount of scrutiny. ED visa holders also are also the subject of similar scrutiny.

Since Thaivisa became aware of the increase in checks on tourist visa holders, reports have surfaced on social media of foreigners being refused entry for not having 20,000 baht in cash when entering Thailand.

Hardly surprising regarding the deadbeat, retarded characters who gather on Thaivisa.

    Yep.
Suspicions should arise as to nonsensical surface stories such as this.

It could be true. I remember for a period of time, many years ago, having to show either baht (don't remember the amount) or a credit card valid for the stay.

Doubt I had a visa, though.

I saw a guy in Laos being asked to show he had the funds.

Im sure if he hadnt turned up unshaven, unwashed, in beachwear looking like a down and out it would have been different.

The Department for Land Transport here has a strict dress code. No shorts and customers must dress conservatively.
It's great fun to see the pikey chavs refused service and turned away. The staff even ejected a shouty Italian woman because she had a low cut sleeveless blouse on.

Why is every news here copied from Thai Visa?

I thought this forum wants to be "different"??
