    Ramadan 2017 Kicks Off

When dictated to by the moon, we will be up and running.

As it followed a lunar calendar, it shifts a few days every year.

Muslims fast during the hours of daylight, meaning they are allowed no food or drink at all.

I love these late spring ones, they are my favorite, hitting the longest day:
here in UK around 16 hours . They sort the camels from the boys.

    Currently:
    Sunrise: 04.40 - that's early for a mega breakfast!
    Sunset 21.28 -

I will be out with my camera to spot miscreants.

Sleep all day, gorge all night. It's gotta' be the all-time unhealthiest fast ever practiced by mankind.

And I get to hear (multiple times):

    Why you no fast!? Healthy!

Yes, Abdullah. Very, VERY healthy. You look like a million dollars, buckaroo.

1st week in Jeddah, 2nd week in Doha.. hopefully the rest of it working from home but I'd rather be busy... if somewhat dehydrated.

Ah got it now. A close-up Samosa looks pretty disgusting, (as does a warty nose).

    Expect more islamic religious attacks.

Ramadan has been a time for that in the last decade.

Always loved Ramadan when working in Middle East.

No traffic on the roads going to the office.
Other than my expat mates, everyone else in the office was asleep.

Also had a mate who programmed flight simulators at the flight training centre, so could go in and fly the real flight simulators, good fun.
He just really had to make sure I didn't land too hard (or crash) because the hydraulic systems could break something if you hit the ground too hard.

They reckon that there are about 200 billion galaxies in the Universe containing quintillions of stars, and it may be there are many more universes which can never be seen because the distances are simply too great for light to travel and arrive at a point when it can be detected.

Given that humans only became self aware in a period of time, in cosmic terms, scarcely a sneeze ago, and our insignificant little planet is but a collection of dust in a solar system that is so microscopically irrelevant to the universe it is scarcely the equivalent of one grain of sand out of the gazillions of grains of sand on the fucking world's beaches, it really is fucking, stupendously amazing that people still actually believe a Supreme Being made the whole shit out of nothingness and should be worshipped by cutting some skin off their cock and not eating when it's fucking light for a lunar month.

Fuck it, people are really microbes and the universe is a fucking Petri dish in a laboratory containing an infinite number of dishes.

Actually they tend to look more like this. I should know, they're staple office diet here in the sandpit.

The lads and lasses are perfectly happy for me to have a tea of a coffee in front of them, but I wouldn't be so mean as to eat.

And the staff canteen is open every day, they just don't go there.

Plus they all fuck off early so I can get loads of the paperwork done that I've been too busy to finish.

Yet, we continue to slither on mostly unaware and greatly unaffected or even moved by these grand discoveries while plodding on with these age-old, doctrinal rituals (purely based on fear, btw) that are scrawled on age-old texts that we all know have been passed on, edited, rewritten and are nothing but a good story, after all.

Merry Fucking Xmas to you all.

I used to live in Indo and maybe returning.

They consume more rice during Ramadan than at any other time of year.

Ramadan is no longer a religious penance period but a huge party month!
