    France bans extremely thin models

    From this BBC report:

France bans extremely thin models - BBC News

I'm all for trying to reduce copycat anorexia, especially among young and impressionable teens

But should that ban not also cover fat models....... ?

^ Oh, yes. Those female MP's always wanted to look like this!

French model and actress Isabelle Caro shortly before she died at the age of 28, the result of a compulsive need to be unnaturally thin.

These guidelines suggest in no uncertain terms that a BMI below 18.5 is underweight, below 18 is considered malnourished and 17 or less is severely malnourished. A female model who weighs 110 pounds and is 5ft 9in has a BMI of 16, and this has become the number that the industry has tacitly not just approved of, but encouraged.

France passes a law banning super-skinny models on the catwalk

Banning thin models is not new, and it won't stop the mentally ill from starving themselves .

    I agree.

Now what about the millions of weak-minded individuals who have convinced themselves that looking like a lard-bucket is OK and not injurious to their health?

Thin is out, fat is in.

Slim athletic and petite is a very attractive trait in a woman.

Provided she can hold a decent conversation on culture, art, history or physics.

That lets about every Thai woman out of it then, they can hold a decent conversation about food they like, their bloody family, handbags or shoes. That's about it, pretty but shallow.

Indeed, but for many people, obesity is harmful, with a host of illnesses that can because they are overweight ==> diabetes, heart disease etc.

Why should my tax payments subsidise doctors and medications for these people?

sh*t, forgot that I don't pay tax, but you get the idea....

I found an interesting comparison on an Ozzie runnign website of how smoking and obesity are considered in Australia, where obesity is now the most preventable cause of death, even more than smoking.

    Fat Tips

    I quote:

"Just compare the way Australia deals with both of these major health hazards:

    Cost
    Cigarettes very expensive-
Bad rubbishy food- cheap as chips (pardon the pun). Fizzy drinks are cheaper than water, packaged chips are cheaper than fruit

    Size
Cigarettes- you cannot buy super dooper packs anymore
Fast food- Supersize Me! The bigger the better and cheaper

    Social
You can only smoke in designated areas
Fast food- consume it everywhere, anytime,

    Labelling
Cigarettes- graphic ugly images on pack
Fast food- gorgeous, slim, young ones eating and drinking rubbish and never gaining weight- yeah right!!

    Advertising
    No cigarette advertising allowed
Junk food- ads are everywhere... TV (even during kids programming) billboards, magazines, newspapers, sporting events

    Government campaigns
Quit campaign is one of the biggest and most successful for the reduction in smoking in Australia
    Fat campaign- What fat campaign?
Groping women when you're old is fine - everyone thinks you're senile

^ Point is, that is how women's bodies really look, not like Victoria Secrets models.
Those Dove women are not extremely fat.

No woman is striving to be overweight but many women strive to be super thin.
