    Donate Money Where?

I want to donate some money to anywhere. This is to make my Thai citizenship application look better.

I haven't been able to find any charity yet that will allow me to do it and give me a back-dated receipt. Unbelievable I know in Thailand. I know the Junta are clamping down on corruption which makes some unwilling to bend the rules.

Does anyone know where I can give some money, only 10k baht or so?

You can donate anywhere. The problem is you dont really want to donate you want to help your citizenship application. Anybody that helps you in reality is breaking the law as you want the donation receipt back dated..

I've got a whole load of Thai children and education charity donation receipts going back about 12 years. I can photoshop your name in place of mine and I'll sell them to you at cost price.

The only problem is that the sums donated are somewhat higher than your 10k baht, mostly in the 50k baht range for each charity.

How much value do you place on your citizenship application???

Tell you what. I'll make you a deal. Buy any of my receipt at cost price and I'll give 100% of your payment to an educational charity here in Myanmar.

    Have we got a deal?

    Fraudulent "donation" schemes. How touching.

Come to think of it (and considering the purpose) - how fitting.

Surely a donation with this year's date will carry the same wait, or is there some set of rules as in applying for a visa where you must have money in the bank months before?

Royal Thai Police Charity. ( a serious suggestion?!) Immigration Dept. is a division of the RTP.

I'd have thought in Thailand, it would be easy.

A worthwhile cause is getting 10k baht.

However, I understand for tax reasons it could be difficult.

I've done lots of voluntary work, for example working in a drug rehab. centre for a 13 years. Maybe a letter from there would suffice, instead of a receipt from a donation.

They want proof that you've helped Thai people in some way.

Really? mmm, I could ask at Immigration I guess, but I'd rather give to a kid's charity.

I'm dealing with the Special Branch, I know other people to have given them donations of various sorts.

Here you are (in very bad resolution so you can't copy it).

From June 2004, about 59,000 baht donated to the children's home at Bangkok Prison. I have the original letter receipt.

Course if I photoshop it, I'd probably better not make BKK a destination for my visa runs from Myanmar in the future.

    Bangladesh?!

I guess there's always one arsehole appears on these forums.

Actually, the amount they recommend is 5k baht.

Go on, I know you're itching to tell us, how much do you donate to charity?

That's a lot of money for me. I don't earn 1 million baht a month like you, or used to.
Me giving 5k would be proportionate to you giving 50k.

The Thai citizenship application board might not see it that way

I don't think that would be a good idea.

Providing them with proof that you have been working illegally for 13 years will not help your cause.

"The permit holder must not engage in work outside the details specified in the work permit without prior permission from the registrar (prison term not exceeding 1 month and/or fine not exceeding 2000 THB)."

Does your wife donate to any temples? If she has been donating for many years, you can get the head monk to write an official letter saying that you two have been giving generous donations for xx amount of years. Don't need to put an amount on it.
