‘Surprise’ as Thai ladyboys are not selected for army duty

‘Surprise’ as Thai ladyboys are not selected for army duty

BANGKOK: — It is an annual ritual familiar to most young Thai men – the tense election procedure for the Thai army.

But while the anxious men await whether they will be chosen or not it is always the lady boys who are stars of the show.

Yesterday at three selection centers in Phayao, Prae and Korat many “type two ladies” turned up that Thai Rath said “were as pretty as the prettiest women!”.

All had high hopes of avoiding selection to the military and none were required to join the bare chested ranks of the more manly potential recruits for the draft!

In Phayao on Sunday a seven day selection procedure was taking place in the gym of a school. Several hundred men will be chosen from nine districts.

Mr Anchada Duayamphan told reporters: “I’m nervous and excited. I am studying in the first year at uni in Ayuthaya. I am not a 100% woman yet – I have not had the op”.

Mr Rusanan Reuanmoon – in pink next to her slightly less appealing friend – smiled and said in a northern lilt: “I don’t want to be a soldier. I want to be a woman. I’m not 100% yet as I haven’t had my extra bits removed”.

Meanwhile in Prae Thai Rath reported that eight lady boys escaped selection. Some 60 men were set to be chosen from 500 present.

Mr Wisanu Nuanjan from Wangthong sub-district said: “I work in Chiang Mai. I haven’t switched over entirely yet

“I have been in many beauty contests and I always come in first. I was scared of being a soldier – it is great not to be chosen”.

While in Dan Khun Thot two stunning lady boys called Nong Prae and Nong Khao lightened the tense atmosphere. They are the ones side by side in pink outfit and a Thai girl’s university uniform.

Neither will be serving the kingdom after recruiting officers discovered that “their sex is not the same as when they were born”

Maybe the Thai Army has a narrow vocational placement vision and need to open their mindset to become more inclusive.

The Ladyboys might not necessary have to be front-line battle troupes ...

Maybe they could be in a more supportive role ... nursing maybe ...

Ah, the Teak Door ... you never know which way the tread travels ...

As an aside, but related, my Partners Neice's Boyfriend did the draw recently and thankfully he pulled a 'long straw'.

The Neice is a bit cute and her Boss knew of the impending Army Marble Draw for her BF and, on the occasion that he drew the short straw, in an unselfish magnanimous gesture, offered to 'take care of her' for him which he was doing his time in the Armed Forces ...

The one w/ the pink-white dress in the OP is cute. I wouldn't have known that s/he was a LB. Unless s/he spoke or I saw the hands, I guess.

Btw, I've nothing against gay men or women. I have gay colleagues & a gay man cuts my hair. Live & let live. Or live & let die...

P.s. @david48: that Lb in the nursey outfit is quite pretty & has a nice butt.

Irrespective of gender matters, the slightly more pressing of issues among the men selected for service is that it is generally mostly those from Isaan and other poorer rural areas who are actually conscripted. The metropolitan Bangkokian although he might lose the draw invariably never has to serve.

I somehow doubt that, say, anyone among the 80% Thai alumni of Shrewsbury school has been conscripted, ever.

    Simply wouldn't do.

So if one doesn't want to be conscripted, he can just go to the selection center dressed as a woman?

    Didn't work for Klinger.

Openly gay boys and trannies in the same barracks as heteros would be somewhat disturbing, a bit like having same sex barracks for hetero males and female soldiers, I'd guess, easy access to sexual partners, bunking up, night crawling.

Something similar to the "Don't ask don't tell" discretionary policy as in the US military, wouldn't be enforceable in Thai military, and heteros would be discriminated against by not being allowed daily (or nightly) access to female sexual or social partners, constantly, when off duty.

Unless mixed sex barracks become the norm.

"I am not a 100% woman yet – I have not had the op”.

Sorry to disappoint, but even after you cut your junk off you still will never be a woman. Study genetics. XX XY cannot be changed... no matter how much hormones you pump into your body, your chromosomes, genetics, can't and don't change.
