British tourist, 20, is fighting for his life after falling from a train in Thailand days after posting SELFIES of himself hanging out of carriages

    • Daniel Clarke from Aldershot, Hampshire, was travelling on a train in Thailand
    • The 20-year-old put an image on his Facebook of him hanging out of a window
    • He is now in intensive care after he fell out of a moving train yesterday evening
A young British tourist is today fighting for his life after he fell out of a moving train - just three days after he posted a selfie of himself hanging out of a carriage window.
Daniel Clarke, 20, from Aldershot, Hampshire, had been travelling from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat in southern Thailand after catching a train yesterday evening.
But after travelling overnight, he is believed to have fallen from the carriage - which has open air doors with no shutting mechanism.
Just three days before the horrific incident, Mr Clarke had posted a photograph on his Facebook page which showed him hanging out a train window with his friend, Ross Wild.

He shared an image on Facebook with the caption: 'Living it large in Asia!! Fcking loving it!'

The picture was posted on March 29 at 6.28pm and he was found unconscious with blood pouring from his face at 9.50am on Saturday.

A passing driver of a train spotted him several feet from the tracks unconscious with blood pouring from his face in Chumphon District at 9.50am local time.
His friend, Ross, confirmed that he had now found Daniel but declined to comment further.

Meanwhile, doctors said that Mr Clarke is being treated at the Chumphon Khet Udomsakdi Hospital.

Poking the devil with a stick and hoping he lets off with a caution didn't really work for this silly kunt, maybe mummy should have worked some common sense into the boys head.

If you did that on my local train you would be decapitated. I swear they use the train carriages as a brush cutter. Then there's the house roofs that finish about afoot away from the side of the carriage as it passes.

    You'll appreciate this one Blue

Maybe if he had just stuck his head out instead of half his body he might have been OK.... he's hanging out up to his waist FFS. Very stupid thing to do; but I hope he recovers, and maybe learns something useful about hanging out of windows too far......
    I blame the Americans......and Thaksin.

I can see another crowdfunding appeal looming - if he was insured, then it's likely the company would argue his behaviour invalidated the policy since in most instances the insured are contractually obligated to exercise a duty of care to themselves and to others. Hanging out of a moving train gurning at a fucking mobile telephone like some spasticated Welsh twat in a frenzy of narcissistic recklessness is, I believe, an excluded activity.

However, I see from the other report (why are they not fucking merged?) he was hurt when he fell whilst having a smoke. This is a tricky one. When I was addicted and travelled by train here, I used to have a fag standing between two carriages on the connecting platform clinging on to the handrail for dear life as the bogies clattered and banged away underneath making the platform sway and lurch unpredictably. You needed your wits about you for sure and it was not something I would have attempted in the dark.

Strictly speaking, passengers are not meant to stand there whilst the train is in motion but the conductors tolerated the practice for smokers. Given that the practice is not prohibited, de facto, and there are no signs alerting the passenger that they should not stand there, then one could argue it is de jure and therefore the accident was covered by his policy.

    Bad luck for the guy.

I used to smoke joints while leaning from the window on Great Western Trains, you still can as they are 40yr old trains.

But a bit of caution is required.

One would not contemplate doing anything as daft as that unless one was a fecking idiot.

I never put my head right out when the trains in England would be going 100 + mph anyway, all you did when smoking was to blow the smoke in the direction of the slipstream and it gets sucked out..

yep. If he hadn't fallen off the train he would have been hurt on a zip line, rental scooter, one of those concrete downhill sled thingies or dived headfirst into a shallow muddy lake. Maybe even fallen off a slippery waterfall!

Just another hold my beer and watch this idiot

You can be young and stupid and the trains in Thailand do look like a joke.

You can also be young and sensible and realise the trains in Thailand are dangerous.

Someone's son, hope he survives to learn.

As to crowdfunding, not on penny will leave my cloud.
