Although Latindancer said he "just found" the text, he provided no source for it - no authors name, no book reference, no link, nothing, so it looks like he wrote it himself.

Could be my Thai is not good enough to appreciate the subtleties, but having seen adult Thais in hysterics over stuff that would have western 8-year-old eyes raised to the ceiling, and a rather alien thought process, 'great' isn't a word I would choose; more like a 'different' soh, as with other cultural elements like mindset, attitudes to work and education, relationships etc.

But that's part of the package to take or leave.

Yes, absolutely. Having just escaped death by HGV by a couple of inches, they'll just ride off giggling. Live to laugh another day. Great people.

I did do a quick Google search on some of the phrases, and got not hits at all. Does not mean to say its not there somewhere -but highly unlikely in my opinion.

However, the highly unprofessional tone and phrasing suggests it was written by someone who has a very high opinion of their own intellect, but is actually as thick as a plank.

So, yes -my guess would be that it was penned by latinprancer.

It's not in the public domain. And I really couldn't give a damn about what you think. I just quoted it because considering who it came from, it astonished me.

And we have no idea who it came from and their actual reliability or credibility and you seem unwillling to share it so it means fuck all. It has no credibility here except to you so it was pointless posting it. Could have been Chico for all anybody knows.

I have been counseling individuals in this country for almost a decade. And I have found one thing for certain is that the people here are not able to self evaluate; there is no metacognitive recognition.

When I was a psychological counselor overseas, I came across many situations, but nothing to the extreme that I have witnessed in Thailand.

I have actually done quite a bit of research on this particular topic and I have found that Thais operate at a primal or baser instinctual level.

The culture is self-deprecating... Thailand is number one for many things such as child prostitution, human trafficking, deaths from road accidents, infidelity, alcoholism, domestic violence, and the list goes in and on.

My words are completely absent of judgment. I’m simply stating facts and evidence.

I counsel as many as 10 families per week.... I am privy to the deeper layers of the culture. To be honest with you, my heart is burdened by the depravity of a Buddhist nation".

So why not just treat it as it's supposed to be treated, (I'm sure the author intended) as an opinion piece? If it was written by Tiger Woods, Albert Einstein, Luigi, or Donald Trump, I'm sure you would take the words and argue or agree no matter who wrote them.
(Slight qualification: If the words were written by Trump I wouldn't blame you for being automatically biased against the opinion, but the point remains).

You have never been to many concerts with 'comics' appearing then? State of the art humor has been bashing each other on the head, hilarious 'jokes' over the mispronunciation of words, taking the piss out of the mentally retarded, and of course the ever present lady boy sketches and people dropping their pants and various cock and pussy jokes, funny for being so pathetically awful.

Or even more realistic, we naturally observe, promote or write material that might be kind to our personal biases and agendas - without the aid of examining perspectives or interpretations of an alternative scope. Hopefully, one who pontificates towards a particular field of study will have extensive and varied experience and exposure to said subject matter, yes?

LD's example doesn't seem to fit such patterns, be it his own or plagiarized.

Since "Intellect" (I.Q.) level is relative to the individual,...I'll assume the OP really meant Thai "Mentality" instead.

Mentality (my opinion) is more in conjunction w/ cultural character, cognitive consciousness, and traditional values.

Thus, the only real issue that I have with Thai mentality,...specifically pertains to the Thai Public Health & Safety standards.

For example,...Thais (like most Asians) have a general penchant for handling money, then (immediately after) handling food,...without first...

...stopping to "wash" their hands. That ^ habit ranks among the worse infractions (ever) of the universally accepted Public Health standards.

And that's ^ just my singular, considered opinion of course. Needless to say,...I am a frequent patron of the "Subway Sandwich Shop" outlets,...eh?
    Anyway...Happy Holiday greetings to all,...regardless,...

Indeed...I have often wondered why there are not more outbreaks in Thailand of food poisoning and other illnesses brought on by fecal contamination of food. There are certainly more than are reported in the media. And many more minor ones.

Even the (formerly) squeaky-clean Singapore has PH & S issues, of late.

Perhaps if the current Thai PM, would more adamantly address those PH & S topics,...

during his 8pm Friday evening (nationwide) TV broadcasts, it would go far,...impacting with,...

and contribute to raising the mainstream public "consciousness" levels...in those regards.

Countries,...with the best "cleanliness" reputations, also attract the highest amount of foreign tourist traffic.

If Thai bloody Airways in any indication of mentality then Thais would struggle to decide whether it’s shoes first or pants.
