Nor should subliminal comparatives be cast.
Especially throughout studies circles, where conditioned and unlettered bias delegates.

I have worked , lived and breathed with Thais for over 30 years at every level, and I find it almost impossible to pass judgement based upon the very vague OP.

Depending upon which sector of Thai Society you are dealing with, including the different ethnic groups that make up the Thai population, you will encounter a myriad of mentally challenging problematic solving responses, some smart, some acceptable and some W.T.F!

Intellect is relative.... A Westerner might think that most Thais are a bit dumb. Well, its fair play. Some Thai tuk-tuk drivers think that newbie tourist are stupid. Hence, the over-pricing, scams, etc.

A lawyer from Harvard would have a low survival probability than a nomad if they are left alone in the Amazon.

Indeed, and we welcome with derision, the sublime examples of vacuous, inane and preposterous pseudo-intellectualism that you present to us all on an almost daily basis.
You're a sad little fraud Jeff.
Have you sense of self worth.
By the way, is it raining?

    No offense meant of course.

How would the nomad go initially within the jungles of wall street?

I read your post and the lawyer and the nomad would do well in alternative diverse environments if given the time to learn.

Yes, it's learning the lay of the land and that's not superior intellect. It's called experience and using it correctly.

Just like the new tourist here, just like the Tuk Tuk driver who realises he cannot rip off Falangs anymore.

Do you believe the sense now, is just survivability, or as when I was starting out, a sense of adventure and progress was more "blowing in the wind"?

Talk about people who haven't the remotest clue, the OP topic title, together with the multitude of Thai berating replies, speaks volumes, regarding the average farang mentality.

Here's that next question. How did post WWII Brits manage to totally unravel (in 25 years) what took their forefathers 250 years to assemble....., vis-'a_vis,

"The Sun Never Sets Upon The British Empire", eh? Indeed, a remarkable mentality achievement, the Thais could never compete with.

A real Raffle's (Hong Kong) no contest scenario, for sure. Way to go ^ there,....... chaps

All of the foregoing ^ comments considered, there's one undeniable fact, regarding Thai mentality. The average Thai person will never, ever bad-mouth another Thai (even another Thai they despise)......to any foreigner.

Now that level of Thainess, is an astute form of solidarity, practiced on a level of cultural consciousness, the average Aussie, Brit, Kiwi, and especially the Yanks, could not begin to "fathom",.......in another 1,000 years.

Thus, my opinion of Thai intellect (reiterated)...is...respectfully

Well, circling the wagons when johnny foreigner is around is not always a desireable trait, surely?

Compared to the inhabitants of Great Yarmouth Thai folks are MENSA material. Thais are often bashed for their poor English skills but I've never really had an issue communicating. The ability to speak any language, if if it is broken and far from fluent makes one far from dim imo

Here is a link to understanding and taking into account, Thai drivers behaviour and their "adoption", or not, of "international" norms. Along with Thai cultural explanations.

A useful 10 minute read which may be useful. Longer if your called away to "a very important meal".
