4 million people require new home

New Zealand is falling apart and will probably slide into the ocean San Andreas style any day now.
so if anyone can find room for 4+ million peps it would be much appreciated.

Kia Ora, Phunphin.. where are you based now mate? Christchurch? were you, or your family (or any white fluffy creatures) effected by the quakes?

Then again, if you put said, white fluffy creature at cliff face, then there was an earthquake... it could get interesting if your trousers fell down.

The Irish are hospitable to foreigners while fighting each other, they live mainly in Trumpland and Orztrailerpark

I met a few Oirish down in Christchurch a few years back doing the rebuild. Now there's more work I guess they'll stay longer.

Hmmm... Maybe they're to blame for the quakes.
    Bloody work-hungry Oirish.

9pm last night, NZ's GeoNet reports 2481 earthquakes since the 7.8 Kaikoura earthquake - less than 96 hours before
Am currently in Wellington, south coast, notice most of the +4 ones
And now calls to shut down the Wellington CBD
Questions asked about closure of Wellington CBD as evacuations continue

The glass building in Molesworth St is likely to have to be demolished after suffering damage in Monday's quake

Thunderbirds Are Go: International warships arrive to help Kaikoura
Australian frigate HMAS Darwin, Canadian frigate HMCS Vancouver and US destroyer USS Sampson arrived overnight from Auckland with the Royal New Zealand Navy frigate HMNZS Te Kaha. The foreign warships were in New Zealand to take part in the Navy's 75th anniversary but were redirected to support the relief operation. Surveillance aircraft from the US Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force conducted surveys of quake-damaged areas.

4 million new homes, well that's also needed in the U.K. as well to cope with the invasion of economic migrants.

    Best wishes to the Kiwis

Is it true that 4 million homes needed, that's more than one per family?

Last time I was there the population was similar to ireland around 4 million?

Each home will require a swimming pool and an outdoor barbecue area. All donations gratefully received.

When did that happen? We have a long and dismal tradition of racism, intolerance, and bigotry. The only immigrants we can stand are ourselves and even then we make ourselves miserable singing drunken songs about Spancil Hill, murdering the British and each other for reasons we no longer understand but still cherish, and Nancy Spain's planter-infested vagina being transported to Botany Bay with the Bould Fenian Men. Hospitable me hole!

yes in christchurch, no damage here , but when your waken by what you think is a aftershock and expect it to only last 10-20 seconds , and some 90 seconds later its still going...you begin to worry a little bit.
And the boffins are now telling us to expect even more up to 7.0 in the very near future.
Not to mention the main divide fault which is 50 years overdue, and will make the ones we have just had look like nothing.

So is there a mass exodus to Oz ,Fiji anywhere there's a flight or would folks sooner stay put?
I've been through a few earthquakes and the scary bit is the uncertainty, at least it'll discorage unwanted immigrant overstayers but bugger tourism and the huge infrastructure bill for such a small pop to shoulder

    The News from GeoNet today:

    Good morning.
I'm back this morning, bringing you the latest quake news through our live blog.
We passed something of a milestone last night, with over 3000 aftershocks since Monday's quake.

    And

6.30 am update: 13 eqs in last hour, 257 eqs in last 12 hrs (13 over M4) and 3182 eqs since the M7.8 Kaikoura Earthquake.

Best site I'm aware of for updates: http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/8641...nterbury-quake

I would also like to explain why New Zealand will recover from this is they still have a North Island that's the most populated and the hub of industry.
It's the underpopulated South Island that's taking earthquakes.

I love NZ but read quakes in capital and other parts of N Island are volcanic yes?

    Is Taranaki active now?
Is there an International appeal site?

^^ the biggest impact on population is across a narrow stretch of water to the North Island, Cook Strait, to Wellington where numerous buildings mainly in the gave been evacuated high-rise commercial and apartment blocks

The glassed building second from left, in Molesworth St, Wellington, is to be demolished due to structural issues

Woken by a 5.0 after 3am today. There'll be more.

Widespread damage to medium-rise buildings in Wellington was 'expected'

    ^^ nothing volcanic
Taranaki remains dormant (applies to mountain and people)

This may become a National Geographic tv show one day
Northeast South Island coastline rose by up to two metres, GeoNet estimates

    Up from the seabed

    Has occurred previously

Turakirae Head - an example of a place where land has been uplifted several times.
In 1855 the magnitude 8.2 Wairarapa earthquake raised much of Wellington by 1-2 m. The road from Wellington city to the Hutt Valley became viable as a result of the new land around the harbour's edge.
The newly-raised coastline was most likely permanent, GeoNet said.

Most people will stay here, roads and buildings will be fixed, some people living in kaikoura actually moved there from christchurch after the quakes there.

Had an aftershock tonight, 5.7 .. you get used to them.
you cannot stop nature..just have to live with it and adapt.
the cost to rebuild state highway 1 (main rd north) is put in the billions.
