The softies have won that argument against capital punishment, but I'd feel a bit better about it if they gave the defects serious sentences the quality of which made them wish they were dead...might get them to think of things other than suing the prison service for a late breakfast.

As a youth, I had many "piss-ups" on the beach and in the parks - sometimes up to 20 of us but not one of us ever got into bother. We certainly would not abuse any elders or cause a scene- that meant trouble with our parents. Sure, fights took place between rival schools but that was organised in a way, and if like me, that wasn't your scene, then you never had a problem anywhere.

During the 80's I spent a lot of the time in the Bigg Market (an extremely lively entertainment area in Newcastle) both mid-week and at the weekends. During the week I used to go out with the office crowd and at the weekends I'd often go there late at night (2am plus) to get a feed (I used to work for a mobile disco doing pubs and hotels). Apart from the usual "you spilled my pint" crap in the pubs I NEVER had any bother. I'm not saying violence didn't occur but I never felt threatened and quite enjoyed the scene at pub and club chucking out times.

Roll on the 90's - I went to uni in Newcastle as a mature student after backpacking around for a couple of years. The students were regularly getting attacked bythe locals ,not in the city centre as such but more in the student digs areas. The chavs had arrived and the police did/could do sweet f.a. Joyriding went on unpunished -they'd arrest the little cnuts but they'd get released hours later into the care of their parents who couldn't give a flying fuck - usually a 30 year old slag who got enough off the social for her packet of Superkings, eighth of tack, and Diamond White Cider. Dad was probably banged up for ram-raiding or B & E.

Around 1992, two 14/15 yr old joyriders got their comeuppance after they crashed into a lamppost during a baited police chase. Their deaths sparked the Meadowell riots - lads flocked there to fight with police and go mental with impunity. Then fuking do-gooders came along - millions were spent regenerating the area and the little cancers were spread around to other areas while this work took place. They infected other parts with more youth seeing that the police had no power - police records became badges of honour not embarrassment and shame.

At this time my sister was a teacher in a school in Byker. One of her 11 year old boys was spitting on other students so she told him off. The little shit then grabbed my sister's hair, pulled her down and started kicking her in the face. The father was called in and he verbally set about my sister effing and blinding. NOTHING was done about this, fucking NOTHING. My sister was traumatised by this and left teaching soon after.

Last time I went back to the UK was December 1999. Newcastle city centre and the Bigg Market in particular had chavs and gangs all roaming around. I had to leave my favourite kebab shop via the backdoor after a group of hip-hop attired lads were causing grief and wanting to 'have' me and my mate. Our crime? We were invited behind the counter to chat with the owner - someone I had known for 15 years. Go figure.

Piss-poor parenting and PC-induced social order policing has led to these vermin plaguing society.

I won't comment on the immigrant issue as Ive been away from the UK for some time now, although they bear the brunt of the ire that my mates back home and family express when talking about the state of the UK nowadays.

Tar and feather the lot of them, and cut their balls off so they can't reproduce.

Is this just because I am out of the UK and used to a a quiter more refined way of life or is it a genuine problem?
Does "a quieter more refined way of life" describe your life or Thai society in general? Because if you are comparing Thailand with the UK, you really are sticking your head in the sand or don't get out much.

During three years in Thailand I have witnessed one stabbing and two shootings. In 34 years in the UK I have seen neither. So perhaps it is that you either don't hang out in places where Thai yob behaviour occurs in Thailand and restrict yourself to quiet places or expat places, or you don't read the Thai newspapers which carry yob stories nearly every day. Many a day you will see photos of large gangs of handcuffed Thai youths lying face down on the road after starting violence.

Thai male students stopped displaying the name of their university in their uniform because it used to lead to regular yob attacks from students from other universities.

Furthermore, violent crime rates of every type are higher in Thailand than the UK.

Fucking disgusting gang rapes seem to be a daily event somewhere or other in Thailand, which are far worse than drunken fighting yobs, and I've never heard of a gang rape in the UK.

squirrel, I hope yours isn't just another example of someone looking for motivation and justification for having left the UK and moved to Thailand, because it is very hollow.

Not sure the death sentence is an appropriate punishment for stealing a car. It's not the kids' faults, they aren't brought up to know much different. It's the parents who need punishing.

What happened to your sister is pretty horrible & a prime example. Sort out the parents & the kids will sort out themselves.

Well, they weren't able to drive around at ridiculously fast speeds showing off and potentially hitting innocent pedestrians or other road users.

I know which outcome I prefer.

Parents don't care a toss, as mentioned before most are on the dole whether or not they work on the side, and are living examples of how the welfare system is running Brit society down the tube. Kids are not as thick as society encourages them to make out, they can see from their parents how easy it is to work the system and that's the life they'll follow, as will their kids. Take a stroll down Walking Street, you'll see many arguments for giving the gene pool a good dose of chlorine.

Steal a car, end up in a chase and die or kill a passer by, some asshole will blame the police, other assholes will join in the howling, and next thing you know the police are diving for cover...and gawd help them if a hard done by 'minority' is involved.

As to getting their act together, in today's political and social climates the sheeple expect only more rights, more tolerance, and more understanding that society is indeed to blame for its genetic retards.

these problems are not endemic to the uk. they are global. humans will ultimately destroy themselves. our greed and short-sightedness define us as a species. i honestly regret bringing children into this mess.

I don't know if people are inherently good or inherently evil, but even a lotus grows out of the mud.

I always give people the opportunity to screw up once.

At the risk (or rather, certainty) of being labelled racist, let me write about some of my experiences...

    (1) I used to live in Luton. My car, parked in the railway station car park was regularly vandalised. The police couldn't care less. On one occasion when it was stolen it turned up a couple of miles away. When I went to retrieve it it has been totally stripped. And old man came out of a nearby house and told me "darkies did that".

    (2) A friend of mine, late at night, was in Brixton. He went into a side street to relieve himself. Two black guys approached him. One took out a knife and slashed his face ... and then demanded all his money and his wallet. The knife blade was a double blade (Stanley knife with two blades and a gap in between, to make it impossible for surgeons to make a clean repair.)

    (3) Two years ago I was visit a friend in south London. Got off the train at the wrong station (in broad daylight). Was approached by three black guys with knives. They demanded my bag, my credit cards, and all my money. They got them - including the keys for my house in Thailand.

OK, these are only my experiences, but in my 40+ years of living in the UK I have never, ever had problems of violence, except from negros living in the UK. This might be coincidence ... but I don't think so.

A few years back the Police Commissioner Paul Condom came under fire when stats were published for daring to mention that muggings by blacks are higher than their population % should warrant.

That said, it's also claimed that muggings/assaults on a black are more likely to done by blacks than whites.

Of course, Paul Condon (not Condom) was forced to resign. Speaking the truth is a crime against political correctness in the UK.

Multiculturalism has failed. Time to think again.

(As a totally unrelated comment, why was I listed as from "Hua Hin" two posts ago, and have just been listed as from "Kamala Beach"? I've never been to either of these places, and definitely live in a boring city a bit to the north of Bangkok.)
