    Gun Laws In Thailand

Does anyone know about them, or where I could find out??
My BiL just came over with his muzzle loading gun and used my welder and tools to repair his lock as it had broken a tit off that drives into the cap to fire it.
He uses paper caps like kids use in toy cap guns, tears one off, sticks it in a recess over the priming hole and the lock strikes it and fires the powder.

If it is legal I coukd get regular black powder percussion caps and a factory lock and he could fit it to his gun, I think he has several of them.

But parts and caps might be very much illegal tho.

I know nothing about black powder guns, I assume they are legal to own and no license is needed, probably find it hard to buy black powder though, thats the rifles not the pistols on legal ownership.

It's a bit like the Thai normal gun license, it states how many bullets you are allowed to own, 6 shot revolver they normally allow you to own 12 bullets at any one time, you go down the gunshop and they ask you how many boxes you want, a box is 50 bullets, so the laws are pretty relaxed.

How much for a cheap but cheerful legal revolver? I want one but don't have anyones name to put it in. (I'd feel a bit weird asking colleagues to get a gun license and then purchanse a gun for me)

I know in the states Muzzle guns are not controlled as they are antiques or collectors items, black powder and primers are readily available, they have a new synthetic powder that is non corrosive and not as messy to use and doesn't stink like the charcoal/sulphur/nitrate mix,, but he mixes his own powder so must not be available here.

I could have some brought over or shipped and get him a kit gun for him to build if it is legal.

That would either be illegal or fraught with problems.

I think you need a license for those guns.

Around my way they use them for shooting birds.
When I see him again I will ask where he gets his powder from

Probably makes it. Easy enough to do. I used to mess around it in my misspent youth.

Yes you need a license for them guns. We have a couple out the farm but no license not that anyone cares as for gun powder its easy to get around our way.

My brother in law has a few guns, and my wife keeps one for him here, no problem about the license unless you upset the police I guess.

Why, do they explode while you're mopping up their piss?

Fertilizer (for the potassium nitrate) is probably easier to obtain.

I think the rat shooting (and yes they eat them) flint lock muzzle loading guns that real banok types have are illegal but the police would probably ask for 200 baht tea money if you were caught stalking through the naa with one.
