These cutie Asian children really do earn the corn for the parents. My favourite beggars were the Cambodian children at Wat Prear Vihear who were absolutely adorable in their cuteness, 10 year old scruffy urchins with gorgeous wide eyes, missing front teeth and cute bobbed hair, but when I handed over a US dollar to one of them, her sweetness immediately soured and she looked up from the bill and said in her finest English " Fuck you, Cheap Charlie!"
The sheer wanton effrontery staggered me and the wingman gave her an earful in Khmer for her ingratitude but I admired her chutzpah and rewarded her with another bill. The little fucker still whinged because it was $1 and not $5 but it doesnt do to spoil the buggers.
