British bar owner bribery case: Koh Phangan official transferred

British bar owner bribery case: Koh Phangan official transferred

The local official at the center of bribery allegations made by a British bar owner on Koh Phangan has been transferred.
The order to remove Wisarut Dechhun came in a special directive from the Surat governor. Wisarut will be confined to clerical duties at the town hall in Surat Thani while an investigation takes place.

Word came from the governor’s office that the official, a deputy administrator on the holiday island, had been involved in similar allegations before.

Bar owner Lance ,50, alleges that the official had him and others hauled to local offices on the island where 21,000 was taken from a cash machine in exchange for not prosecuting him.

He said just 900 baht was returned to him from the till.
He alleged that this was not the first time he had fallen victim to such activity. He said that his operation is all above board.
The latest incident happened on Tuesday at 1am in the morning.

The official has said that he is wholly innocent of the charges and has never taken money in bribes............ LIAR

Second time, well there definitely would have been a third time if he thought that he had got away with it twice.

Ya Gota wonder why these Expats really want to run a bar in Thailand when every fuker knows it's a dodgy business fraught with danger.

Add doing it on a shitty Island and ya asking for a miserable time in Thailand.

Ya can never ever win in this game.

It's a badge of honour amongst certain types of expats. Impresses a lot of people back home who have never been abroad. It sounds glamorous and gangsterish

Maybe he's well in with the local mob

Maybe he's still waiting for this mob to come and give him the help they promised whenever he needed it. Probably the same mob who are ripping him off

When i first started to going to Bali in my early 20's the crusty old coonts used to tell me about a great opportunity to be a part owner of a bar.

The deal was 12 farang partners would be sorted and each one does 30 days at a time to keep an eye on the local staff and the business.

Even though I was a young punk i thought......

    You guys are fookin wankers.

Besides being against the law it can never ever succeed.

Dumb mongering fuks around every corner eh.

Now they can add that they are also 'doing a bit of security' to their awestruck mates down the boozer back home

As a farang bar owner, it must be like walking on eggshells at times, in terms of dealing with local problems, ie. protection, staff rebellion, trusting local cops

No sympathy for them but if they wanna put in the work, then good for them

I knew one bar owner, who's idea of work was to turn up every evening at 6 , sat there on his favourite stool and drank beer. His bar funded his drinking habit, for a while as he has had 7 failed bars, but he always finds a new Farang investor to buy a bar for him to run, and as his latest mate is a proud bar owner, says, he knows the crack out there , that's why I trust him.
