How do you like your steak?

Marinade is red wine, salt, garlic, rosemary for a few hours. Shove it on the BBQ until medium/welldone. Tick in a crispy homemade ciabatta with a homemade relish of your choice. Wash down with an ice cold beer. How do you like your steak?

BBQ thick at home or in oven the big chunk for ending on roastbeef...

Dreaming of brisket 12 hours from a great green egg.

I'd think even you'd know to post cooking threads in the appropriate section.....but then again, when one doesn't care when such threads are obvious.....

The better the steak, the less you need to do with it.

My mum worked at the Steak House in Belfast city centre, late 50s early 60s
Frank Carson ( local comedian ) visited on night after a show and ordered a steak.
My mum asked how he'd like it
Frank C. replied, well dead please.

    Cracked her up.

That photo thaimeme posted is almost spot-on ... just a tad overcooked to be perfect.

Bordelaise and mushroom sauce is my favourite to go with the steak. Wife insists I cook rather than restaurant.

I like My steak to be rump steak, much better tasting than all the other fancy names that cost more.

Indeed. Salt and crushed garlic can enhance it though.

It IS a good tasting cut, but concentrates all the fat on one edge. There's something to be said for scotch fillet (ribeye) with it's marbling and fatty "eye".

T-bone, ribeye or rump, fatty: Smoking hot cast iron pan or bbq grill: Brown one side, flip, salt sprinkle, smear crushed garlic, sprinkle grated parmesan (quickly while this flipped side is still hot). Turn down heat and wait until juice just starts to seep through the top side. Remove from heat.

Not to mention they're both PASTA bases that nobody sane would put near a steak. Ever.

    Consider the sauce
