Burning Man to open dusty gates in few days

That event in the desert, anyone participated once ?

Lots of incredible pictures each year, funny and artistic stuff.

A 747 is on way to there this very days of mid August, well without wings, as strong winds could be hazardous.

    Burning Man

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_Man

Founders of Google and other uber rich geeks often participate, that something showing great USA. If looking back at history lots of crazy stuff was done...

Here some pics to give an idea of the place...

So it's an art exhibition in an American desert, just the type of topic that goes well with readers here.

It's a week long festival in the middle of the desert in Black Rock, Nevada, where people disconnect, or well, connect better to each other.

They are celebrating 30 years of existence this year. Started from a small fire on a beach around San Francisco and today it attracts over 70000 people that has to come into the desert with their own survival food and water, no sales allowed, kind off...

I just follow it up year by year with the pictures they produce, some great art work, some how better than the actual Olympics, the Olympics of love, art and connection to disconnect...

5 things to know about burning man before joining in:

Countless videos and art work pictures and stories from the 30 year old festival found around web...

Guns no more allowed. Naked or dressed each one is an artist piece of the huge setup...

It's a psychedelic love art party and if you agree to go you are OK with the idea that you can easily die there, but mainly extreme fun and love, hugs are the more common...

Nothing for sale, bring all your own or survive with what others give you, makes it a special place out of the marketing and constant product sale world

Once it's over all has to disapear, clean place not a cigarette but left.

Looks like a blast. I somehow get the feeling that the gf would not go for it though. In my teens we would travel up north to an Indian reservation for a week long party / music festival at a place called Mole Lake indian reservation. People camping out and partying.

I went on an old school bus (it was parked ) and met some guys that had strung wires length wise in the bus. On the wires were sheets of acid drying. I clearly remember one guy pointing to a group of sheets saying " those are double dipped."and began laughing kind of strangely. Not that fish would have anything to do with that sort of thing.

The feds came in during a Charlie Daniels Band concert one night. They brought a tractor with a backhoe and plowed down a real nice log cabin kind of beer stand. Selling liquor was legal. This place I recall had several long lines to buy wiskey and beer. It was not until after the feds cleared it out and began to level it that I heard that the Indians were in fact selling drugs out of the stand.

The concert goers built a big bonfire in the center of the "music bowl." They threw a couch in it and then the crazy fools were taking turns jumping over the fire as Charlie played The Devil went down to Georgia. Some things you just don't forget. Thanks for rekindling the memories. fish

Yea it was like that. Pretty crazy what you could do on an indian reservation. I belive the local police have or had no jurisdiction on the res. The race track if you could call it that was off the hook. Crash and burn. I can't say they left no trace that's for sure.
