Dozens of tourists test positive for drugs at Samui pub raid

A raid by 50 soldiers and police at a well known Chaweng pub on Koh Samui netted almost three dozen tourists who had been taking drugs.
pub raid samuiOut of about 100 patrons tested 32 returned the tell-tale purple urine test.
The pub – that was not named – was raided at 3am and found to be operating after hours and with a license that had run out last December. The man looking after the premises – Itthichai Chunparicha, 40, was arrested.
Some 14 shisha pipes, that are illegal in Thailand, were taken into evidence. Neither the fate of the tourists or what drugs they had been taking was reported in the Daily News story.

What's purple urine indicate? I don't think all drugs produce the same test colour.

Just indicates a positive.

The colour is immaterial. Depends on what they were testing for. Presumably either THC or shabu shabu (is that what they call thai meth ?)

It's also sold as "ecstacy" to tourists on Samui.

who is to say these foreigners didn't take the drugs outside the country? marijuana is legal in many places around the world and my understanding is that it takes quite a while to be completely out of one's system.

best bet for these foreigners is to pay the fine and move on, but this is utter BS.

if they have drugs on them or observed taking them....ok, arrest them. but this? nahh.

There is an 'anti-foreigner' thing going down here in LOS Ray, in case you hadn't noticed. Nothing to do with politics or the UNCHR, obviously. I'd say this was co-ordinated from higher, although of course any tourist who comes here strictly for drugs and prostitution should be subjected to the Rule of Thai justice. Both are strictly illegal here, and must be eliminated. Much like the justice system.

Those GPS thingies in our SIM cards might at least serve to protect us from homicidal Burmese rapists, who pin their vile crime on local influential families. But I wonder if it will get rid of the ridiculous need for 90 day reporting?

The Sound bar next door to Moby Dicks short time hotel on the Green Mango has been closed for the last 2 nights. Local rumour has it that the majority tested positive but farang were released, and the 32 arrested and charged were all Thai.

By-laws on Samuii, introduced back in the summer of 69, state that it is illegal to not take drugs on Chaweang Beach that have been supplied by "The Family".
The same by-laws also made it compulsory, if not ethically right, to shoot down Welshmen with a single twang of the bow.



The High Court subsequently found it not only ethically correct, but the right thing to do.
