Announcing the Release of vBulletin Messenger
We are pleased to announce the release of the latest version of vBulletin, v5.2.3. This release contains significant new functionality. Most importantly, we are launching the software's new chat capability, vBulletin Messenger. vBulletin Messenger provides a new chat interface on top of the existing Private Messaging features. This new chat interface provides a highly streamlined way for users to communicate with one another. Users will be able to use quick-loading chat windows to have near real-time conversations with others in your community. Chat is particularly popular among Millennials and especially well-suited for use on mobile devices.
vBulletin Messenger is likely to increase engagement within your community, encouraging users to stay on your site longer and come back more frequently. Active chats are displayed in a windowed interface. These messages can include images, emoticons, attachments and rich-text. You can enable multiple users in individual chats, based on your private messenger permissions. vB Messenger is turned off by default.
vBulletin 5.2.3 contains a variety of other improvements including enhancements to its responsive experience. With this release, the navigation bar has been enhanced when viewed on smaller screens to ensure that all elements properly collapse into a drop down menu for more efficient use of the screen real estate. Also of note, with this release we are deprecating support for PHP 5.4 and encourage you to upgrade beyond that at this time.
vBulletin 5.2.3 is now available for download. vB Cloud sites will be upgraded in the next few days, with no work required on your side. If you have any questions on this release, feel free to contact us at 877-326-6444 or
