Sweet talking Nigerians conned Thai women, say police

Bangkok police have arrested two Nigerians who they say posed as successful businessmen to con Thai women into transferring money to them in exchange for goods from abroad.

nigerians con Thai womenHua Mark officers stopped a man they named as “Mr Benny” who was acting suspiciously in the Hua Mark Soi 27 area on Saturday, reported Daily News. In a white plastic bag with pink stripes they found a Central bag containing 1.7 million baht in cash.

This led them to an apartment near Hua Mark station where they talked to Ugochukwu Benson Ezenwegbu, 26. The Nigerian was taken into the police station along with 1,000 US dollars, four phones, a computer notebook and account books.

He admitted that he had been sweet talking Thai women into transferring money to him. He posed as a successful businessman posting pictures to support this online. He promised to by the victims expensive goods from abroad and pass on to them.

Shortly after his arrest a man called Patrick Ebguche, 31, also a Nigerian national appeared at the station. He told police that the money in the carrier bag belonged to someone else and was needed to “help a family who were facing danger in Nigeria”.

He said that he had contacted Benson to get a Thai bank account set up.

Police have arrested both men and investigations are continuing to discover what exactly they have been up to. Alleged victims of the pair are also being interviewed in the matter.

Never met a Nigerian overseas on legitimate business.. Not to be racist or anything, and I'm sure there must be loads of them doing legit work and stuff..

Nigeria of course is an OPEC country, with the world's 4th largest oil reserves. But seemingly most of their GDP is comprised of scams and email fraud.

Any plane arriving from Lagos Airport ought to be just returned back there.

I get told by many Thais that all black people in Thailand are 'up to no good'
I'm starting to believe this myth now

the thai women had probably heard tales about the legendary size of black toolage and were distracted into parting with their money by the fantasy of being slipped a length of mandingo meat.

Online dating site I used had a 'half thai girl' whose profile looked promising. When we started chatting she asked me on the second day that she and her family had now relocated to Ghana

Alarm bells rang and I blocked 'her'
The transcript is somehwere in this forum still, on my online dating thread

I also had the fake webcam treatment, 'she' asked if we could chat via cam, I opened mine, and on her screen appears a really pretty Thai woman walking about her office, occasionally turning to smile at the camera. About a minute in I realised that our messages weren't in sync with what she was doing in her office, ie. she was across the room with her back to the camera going through a filing cabinet while her message was being typed.

I blocked it. the next day the website posted a message to all members warning of this new style of scam.
So they stick a screen up in front of their cam to make people think it's her....
...and all the while it's an African guy with eyes lit up with $$$$

    Ingenious

An idiotically prejudiced position of which you haven't been an early adopter?

    How can this be, chinky?

These Nigerians are OK. I have been talking to one on Skype. Turns out he's related to Nigerian royalty and his uncle is president of a bank. Apparently there's an account there belonging to a British oil trader who was killed in a terrorist blast a couple of months ago. Turns out there is 10,000,000 USD in the account and they want to nick it as no one has claimed it.
He asked if I would pose as the dead guy to withdraw the money and transfer it to my overseas account and they'll give me 10%. I have to pay 10,000 usd for transfer fees but it seems fuck all when you consider the return.
I'm going to be flush soon.
