    Daily Mail readers

    Christ on a plate.

Foot and mouth: Virus outbreak traced to lab worker's allotment | the Daily Mail

They are more concerned about the fact that veal farming exists than the devastating effect of the FAM virus or the fact that it's possible it was a deliberate release.

The last outbreak started 5 miles from my families house. I can remember that there was a snow storm in the area and the police were blocking roads out of town. Initially I thought for the snow. I explained to an officer that I needed to return to the city that night to prepare for an exam the next day so he let me through. They were actually blocking the road because of the mountain of burning cattle and sheep in one of the fields next to the road.

I had the indistinct privilege of being in the UK during that period.
    It was a sad time.

This could be merged with Scampy's thread about animal cruelty.

In Uk they slaughter cattle with foot and mouth.

In Thailand (so I am told) they try to medicate them to allow them to survive.

What's wrong with veal farming anyway? How else are you supposed to eat it?

^Mince would be a possibility, probably not veal. They'd taste a bit tough as the average Daily Mail reader is an old fart.
