I'm a bus driver. The job not only involves driving but also allowing (or not) the carriage of passengers if they should qualify for a concession.

For instance elderly people can't claim their concession during certain times of the day. Students have to show a card to qualify for a student fare. Purchase a ticket & you get a free hour's use of it. But I don't care.

The elderly get their concession fare whatever the time of the day. 'Students' just need to ask for a student fare & I give it out, no ID required. If someone brandishes a ticket and it's expired after an hour I don't care. I don't care if it's a week out.

I'm not a policeman. And that's the difference between a Conservative & a Liberal. We don't suck up to the Trump's of the world. The real liberal agenda continues, drip by subversive drip...

Agreed, I am an employee - but I am not a slave. I have choice. I exercise that choice. If my employer finds me out he has a choice to fire me. I put my shitty job on the line every day. That's what a liberal does. It would be much more easier to just go along with the status quo. Like it or not real liberals in this world exist on a higher moral and ethical ground than those suck-up conservatives too afraid to be real.

* does not rely upon big government to legislate against conservatives.


* puts moral and ethical principle before financial comfort.


* believes that the collective weight of right individual action can change society.

I think it a quite obvious point the OP is making. He is a free-thinking subversive who realises a strict adherence to any policy without exception is unnecessary and undesirable and militates against the use of discretion, intelligence and judgement.

I agree entirely with Davis' post. I am not a conservative.

You should be fired. However, my liberal tendencies might persuade me to reprimand you and assign you to more suitable work with a period of close monitoring and perhaps disciplinary probation.
