^ ya see, that's the thing. I like smoking. I smoke too much and I enjoymaybe 20% of the cigarettes I smoke. I like the idea life everlasting and clean halthy living, sounds so.
    Nice.
But That 20%. Man, they are so fucking good.
    I likew bananas but 30 - 40 of the fuckers a day?
if I gave smoke s up it would be salami 7 cheese sandwiches , pickled peppers, Bacon snadwiches, nachos, chicken wings, peanut salad, Flour tortillas fried in cinnamon butter and brown sugar. last time I tried to quit I blew up to 230 lbs and still smoked...
Been thinking of taking up cigars maybe i'll smoke less
Doubt it'll work. A good cigar? believe it or not, I want a cigarette after finishing one. just like a joint or a beer or a meal .

the average salary in singapore is around $2000 per month

a guy earning the average salary and smoking 20 a day will be spending $350 a month or 18% of his salary on cigs. I still think here is one of the most expensive places to smoke even compared to the UK........

Stopping smoking is mostly about making a decision. The decision to no longer be a smoker.

After that it's a matter of not smoking the first one. That's the only cigarette you a quitting, the first one. We all can do that.

    Cravings do pass fairly quickly.

SBF has some great tips in post #49.

Sometimes the cravings will sneak up on you.

I'd been off the cigs for about 5 years when I made a business trip to Paris.
I'd lived in Paris for a year, when I smoked a lot. All the sights, sounds, smells, food triggered intense cravings where I felt I have to have one. I just kept putting it off. After three weeks of that the cravings suddenly disappeared and never came back.
It's important to tough out those times.

I think that's a book a friend in Korea's just read and he absolutely swears by it.

I think it's been near a month now and he hasn't had a cigarette.

Is this what they're serving down the local sari-sari then Scamp :-

"Carpaccio of Lancashire duck breast with toasted walnuts, beetroot and aged sherry vinegar dressing followed by Grilled Black Angus rib-eye chop with beef marrowbone and port wine braised shallots, green beans, walnuts and lemon and for dessert, vanilla panna cotta with pick Champagne rhubarb and shortbread."

'Easy Way' is scathing of the replacement/substitute method. If you're going to quit putting toxins and other crap in your system via other methods than smoking isn't going to help.

Not according to this book as the idea is to get it out of your system as fast as possible by tring to cut back or use nicorette gum all you are doing is keeping the evil little addiction alive in your body

Would like to know how it feel when you stop smoking since you smoke for a long time. I've never smoked, not even tried coz i've known many people who try to quit smoking. So i realize it's better not to start smoking it becoz it's hard to quit, isn't it.

Anyway, cheer up. I've known many who can quite so do you.

Its like you want to scratch your balls but you cant because you are standing infront of a few 100 people thats the best way I can discribe the feeling a itich you cant scratch because if you do you will be back to where you started smoking again
I have tried before and failed but this time I feel good about it and so far it is very easy. I recommend the book to anyone that wants to give up

I doubt that she knows to much about how itchy balls feel, well she might know how they feel, but not to the one that they are attached to, And why would 100 people standing around keep an Aussie roughneck/biker from scratching his balls?

Good for you on the smoking tho, I still can't quit, But like Frankie, I enjoy smoking, always have enjoyed it, so looks like I might die a smoker.

There are quiet a few studies which indicate that there is a strong genetic component to nicotine addiction. This is why even compulsive people like me can smoke a few (or even a pack) one evening and then not have another for months while some people get totally hooked after just a few.

I have a friend that lives in Ensenada, Baja Mex. He was a saloon owner and worked as a machinest, he quit smoking about 25 years ago because he was getting Emphazema,, he doesn't smoke all year and on New Years he will buy a pack of Marlboro and smoke them as fast as he can and not touch another cig until next new years.

No, you can never restore it once ya have it, Just by quiting you can contain it longer.
Maybe longer than 25 years ago he quit, time flies ya know.

But I heard that he now has lung cancer [polyps?] that they supposed to have removed with laser, but shit he won't have much longer if it is true.
and the damage that you have done will always be there and the first 10 years mean nothing as to cancer and stuff happening.

Quitting on Impulse May Be Smokers' Best Bet - Stop Smoking - MSN Health & Fitness

SUNDAY, Aug. 12 (HealthDay News) -- Smokers are often told the best way to nix their habit is to have a game plan, including a quit day and a quit strategy. But could that advice be counterproductive?
In a recent study putting that question to the test, smokers who quit spontaneously -- without advance planning -- had a greater chance of succeeding than those who planned ahead. The results, published in the British Medical Journal, seem to flout traditional smoking-cessation guidance.
Dr. Michael Siegel, a professor of social and behavioral sciences at Boston University who examines tobacco control policies and smoking behavior, said the findings make a lot of sense.
"Planned quit attempts are implemented gradually and thus the level of motivation is probably rather low," he said. "But these unplanned, sudden attempts probably reflect some sentinel event or great tension that precipitates a very high level of motivation to quit. And thus these attempts are more successful," he reasoned
