I know this is an old thread but in case anyone is reading it.... the question about the sort of Thai women who come to Vang Vieng is simple. I live here, ran a guesthouse and now work in tourism so I meet all sorts. We get many Thai men and women coming here to kayak, zipline, go to the occasional music festival or get away for the weekend. Most look very regular, normal Thai women. We get the occasional one who is on the game too. The OP was invited to go to VV too so it didn't sound very suspicious. Although my ex used to go visit her Auntie but was actually shagging someone else! So there you go. VV has many tourists from all nationalities including Asia and SE Asia.
