A bit of a story and a request for advice.

This isn't particularly amusing or entertaining but you might be able to help.

A bloke who lives in and is married in LOS but works in Aus gets diagnosed with aggressive multiple Myeloma. Bone Cancer.

After a few months of misdiagnoses and so on things finally become clear and a plan is produced.

Basically he's had very intensive radiotherapy in Aus and gone home to his wife for 3 months. Goes back to Aus for tests and the cancer has spread, quite dramatically.

    Last week.

He's recommended to attend 3 months of Chemo and then transfer to another state for a 3 month bone marrow transplant.

it is essential that he has someone with him throughout this.

His wife is in Thailand, has never been to Aus.

His mate who is resident in LOS tries to organise the visa but just gets the run around and after 2 weeks is still talking to robots on the phone.

Bloke with cancer says "bugger it" and against medical advice, though they do understand, takes the risk of flying home to LOS to sort out the visa and to try and get back to the hospital ASAP.

    Time is of the essence.

Every day wasted hunting humans for a visa means the cancer has progressed making the Chemo more difficult and the bone marrow transplant less possible.

The fight for the visa starts at 09.30 tomorrow morning when he calls the Aus Embassy and tries to talk to a human.

As far as the Doctors are concerned he's got about a week to 10 days to get back into the embracing arms of the Oncology department. Much more and he's risking the possibility of the transplant and all that that means.

OK the "bloke" is me and I'm asking for any advice, suggestions, connections or contacts, constructive thoughts or ideas as to how we can expedite the issuance of at least a tourist visa so I can get her back to Darwin and get the treatment going.

I'm hoping that even if only a tourist visa is issued we may then be able to change it in Darwin at the Immigration office in town.

I'm going to be hospitalized for at least 7 months and slightly nuts with the drug regime. So I really need her there. My Doctors are also insisting on it and have written various letters of support saying exactly that.

If you can help we thank you.

By the way we're up near Chiang Kong.

    Cheers all.

    Oh, and in the spirit of honesty, which seems appropriate in the light of the request my email address is;

    plwch@hotmail.com

Thanks again (and I might be cutting my own throat here)

    Crackerjack
    Plwch
    Jandajoy

    etc. etc.

    Happy days.

^ Agree, the man is obviously at the end of his tether and needs support from those close to him. The powers that be, ought to make special allowances for people in dire need.

Shame on Aussie Immigration - heartless arseholes... (no better than Kiwi Immigration to be honest)..

Immigration is a straight forward yes or no emotionless affair. Your application just has to be 100% correct.
My advice would be to apply for a sponsored family stream visa subclass 600
You will get her an automatic 3 months, I have had it done in the past within a week.
In your particular case I would recommend an immigration specialist.
I will email you their details for this initial visa and you then have plenty time to complete a spouse application separately if required you could do this second application yourself. The company I am recommending are the best and I am sure that they will get you sorted asap.

Sorry to hear of your condition and wish you all the best.

I'd suggest attacking (er, I mean approaching) the Australian Immigration authorities on multiple fronts, contacting them in Thailand, Darwin and Canberra.

Be insistent, but at the same time remain polite and calm.

The moral high ground will then be yours.

Well, we're in your corner. Once that battle is won hopefully things will run a lot smoother and you'll be able to concentrate on recovery.

    Hi James,
    Yes I've got all that.
My mate tried working with them for 2 weeks and got no where.
    I believe their last email said some thing along the lines of;

"we don't do urgent or emergency"

    Something to that effect anyway.

    Thanks.

Anyone any idea if the embassy will be open?
