We finally got the application lodged and a number for the embassy at 13.00 today.
Then they said that she has to go for a medical check because we'd ticked the box saying she'd be visiting hospitals in Australia, with a note saying "to look after me".

    What a fucin palaver.

Still, we might be getting there and, as the offices are open on Saturday morning we might still get the electronic visa in time for the flights.

English born and educated, Aussie bred and speaks straight to the point, no bullshit involved.

I'm so happy he is helping you mate.

It might be easier to ask them to change that box to avoid the medical check. She's not gonna be a medical tourist for goodness sake.

i'm sure you're right but it's too late now. She's getting done as we speak.

We've learnt a lot from this and, if it all works out right in the end, I'm sure we'll look back on it with humour

I seem to recall you naming it the most beautiful place on the planet!

    That was late in 2009.

    I went there in 2010.

You weren't far off lad! Not far off at all!

Mathos and Flobo, thank you very much.

The Tayvallich photo cheered me up no end. Strange the things that perk one up.

All the best to you both.

Sorry mate, and KK would tell you I am very busy with our new project at this time.

You and Khun Joy are most welcome to come down to Pattaya and have a celebration meal and piss up upon your return with KK and his family present.

Just got to read all this, so my advice is redundant...sounds like it will happen. GOOD! Bureaucrats can be impossibly anal at times.
    Anyway...all the best.

What the heck...what I was going to say is that Aus. (and NZ) immigration are often concerned that the woman applying will work and stay after arriving, and it is this aspect that needs to be pre-empted in the first instance with everything possible as evidence that she will return to Thailand and not work or overstay.

    Get well fella.

    Thanks for that Maan.

We've been very lucky to have had a mass of help and support from so many people that know us and don't.

I think we're looking pretty good at the moment and though she'll enter Aus on a tourist visa the Immigration people seem to think we'll be able to change that once we'res again. on the ground in Darwin.
We have plenty of evidence to show that we'll both be returning to LOS if things go well.

    Thank

They just love paper work and to run you round as much as possible.

Just filling out a residence return visa for the wife, she has PR, but the 5 year limit on entry expired last month, kids born in Australia, lived there for years.

Think she was joining the CIA by the number of questions, governments love bits of paper, then they decide by what's already on the computer.

    This 5 minutes ago;

    Hi Joy and Geoff,

We have received the interim result of your medical assessment however the
medical results have had to be referred for final assessment to a Medical
Officer of the Commonwealth (MOC). Unfortunately, given the time difference
between Bangkok and Australia this means we will be unable to finalise the
    visa application until next week.

I have contacted our health team in Australia to ask that Joy's results be
looked at urgently, but there is no additional action I (or BNH) can take
to have it finalised any sooner.

The Embassy here is now closed until Monday morning, but this will be my
first priority and I will update you then.

    Kind regards,

Can't she fly over herself next week and get someone to pick her up at the airport?

You need to get yourself in that hospital mate.

Nonetheless - it's an impressively quick turnaround. From no visa to flight out on Weds. Well done mate, and I hope the beer was fizzy and cold - unlike the pommey shite I have in front of me.
