    ^^^^^

I've seen stop-loss functionality on some exchanges. I'm not into day trading so have never used it. I would assume that as long as there are buy orders it would work?

The Fly is correct but maybe more apt to say insider knowledge which keeps everyone out of the loop and still within the parameters.

there is no underlying asset, except the cost of electricity it carries

so it's a cost carrying forward model, as it takes more and more electricity to produce, its value explodes

holding insider knowledge is not illegal, it's the way confidential and material information are being disclosed to third parties that constitute insider trading. Actually in some case, no trades or profit were made, but some poor guy got caught onto it.

in bitcoins, there could be collusion between a few participants to manipulate the market, like we had with the LIBOR scandal

and if it's a scam with scammers managing it all, then it's simply a criminal enterprise

yep, agree, especially as unlike open markets, the exchanges that bitcoins are traded on don't encourage natural shorts like most markets do.

like a pyramid scheme, as long as more people are piling their money into bitcoin, it'll continue to go up (with dips of profit taking).

    until it doesn't (of course).

Clearly you have a passion/obsession for engaging in discussion about things you know nothing about.

Ignorant doesn't really even begin to describe it.

    New technology, lob.

Brokers and middlemen becoming redundant. Wouldn't surprise me if soon we'll be trading stocks on the Crypto. I'm sure there's a crypto out there targeting that market. Hell, in theory it would even be possible to trade an asset like AK-47 mags on ripple if there was the right on/off ramps built.
Some people think it don't, but it be.

Ok so I'm having trouble deciding where to buy this shit. The options on my end all seem like total shit in that a week long identification verification process has to take place before I can do anything. Plus I have to send them my drivers license, utility bill, and social security number.

Among those shitty options, thinking about using Kraken or CEX. I would have added Gemini to this list but they don't currently serve my state. Coinbase is another option but heard bad things and higher fees on top

Anyone have any better suggestions? Again, currently residing in the US.

I gave up yesterday trying to register with coinbase which turns out a lucky move as price of LTC seems to be down on this time yesterday. Just don't know who to believe as when googling for exchanges as many people say any particular one is trustworthy say it's a scam and don't use them. Think I'll just stay a spectator as becoming not worth the hassle.

Sort of where I'm heading with it as well. The amount of personal info. needed to be given away isn't really doing it for me

I've found Bitstamp to be one of the most boring, least cheap, minimal option exchanges.
On the plus side it's never had a 'hacking' incident, verified my credentials in less than a week and I got instant BTC on a credit card which I then used to buy XRP or sent to other exchanges to diversify among the alts.

I expect with the current cryptomania no exhcange is gonna do the verification fast. It's part of the Anti-Money luandring process that they have to implement KYC (Know Your Customer) or face massive fines.

yep, not dissimilar to opening up stock and currency trading accounts.

though, redhaze: if you need a quick hit of crypto, apparently there are bitcoin atms:

    https://slonbtm.com/buy-bitcoin/

How To Buy Bitcoin at a Slon BTM

    Genesis Machine

Step 1: Choose “Buy Bitcoin” at the Slon Bitcoin ATM

Step 2: Choose the amount you want to buy (the higher the amount, the more verifications you need to provide)

Step 3: Enter your cell phone number using the ATM pin pad, get SMS code and enter the received code on the machine.

Step 4: Choose how you want to receive your Bitcon: choose QR code if you have a wallet already (recommended), you can also generate and print a paper wallet at the machine, or just input your address manually.

Step 5: Then enter your address, and insert cash.

Step 6: Click finish when you are ready, and Bitcoin will immediately be sent to your wallet.

Step 7: At the end of your transaction you will receive a paper receipt along with a text message containing a link to confirm your transaction on the blockchain.

    https://coinatmradar.com/country/226...united-states/

Bitcoin ATMs are popping up in Mid-Michigan

(12/12/17) A new type of ATM is starting to show up in Mid-Michigan.

    And glad of it.

However from what I have observed it appears to have an exponentially deteriorous effect on mental faculties and cause nonsensical ranting, paranoia, delusions and delirium. That’s from observing an admittedly small sample size of one though.

Earl will outrun global warming in one of his seven vehicles all the while cursing the gubmint that he wants to fail for not doing anything about it. Because being a self-contradictory hypocrite is apparently another side effect of drinking your own piss.

Heh Snubbings... save the environment - log off your computer for a while. Do something interesting like going out into the street and waving your flag for a bit and chanting USA USA USA. You will soon have 1000 other merkins next to you doing the same thing.
