'Kiss A Ginger Day' celebrated by people around the world who want to show redheads rare affection
Redheads are often 'burned' not just by the sun but by insults from their peers. Today, the world is showing solidarity with flame-haired people everywhere
'Kiss A Ginger Day' trended online as people decided to show our red-headed companions some love due to the discrimination they face.
The celebration began as a Facebook group in 2009 to contrast Kick A Ginger Day, which was created the year prior. It encourages people to show redheads love with a kiss or other form of affection.
It trended offline too - there's even an official event geared at snogging gingers in a pub.
Sounds like a night out with the Weaselys.
Last year, over 120 redheads and redhead enthusiasts attended the London event.
As with any trend, a lot of comments were made on social network Twitter.
