Fair enough. I just missed the part where you were appointed her spokesman.
Given that she is not banned and all that.

What are you blathering on about, Jodie can ask me to remove it if she wants. She is here after all.
Lived in Thailand for most of my life - back in NZ saving like crazy - next stage in life will be escape to Japan, where we will invest our nest egg in a couple apartments.
We plan to buy older apartments and renovate them - then rent them out. I'll do the wallpaper removal/skim coat plastering, and she can help me with the painting.
Originally our plan was to start a small language school/tutor English from home, as a main business while she works part time.
However, I am now thinking about building a team of:- painters, tilers, plasterers over there (much like I am doing in NZ).. Will have to look into the legality of it, but from my own research foreigners married to Japanese citizens have a much wider scope of work/business options to pursue than in Thailand...
Although it seems the NZ housing market has finally peaked, it's too expensive for us and we aren't that emotionally invested here to want to tie ourselves to a million dollar mortgage...
We have no kids (my missus is a tad older than me) and that suits us fine.
Future is looking bright, no ambition to become rich, just be happy with my lady
and build a passive income as we get older.
Have I mentioned I love Japan?
I backpacked for five months last year, my longest period away from my home country. I loved the freedom. I went home and quit my job and now I'm in Thailand for a year. No plans to leave until that ends. Life in a small Isaan town is different to Phuket, the only place in Thailand I've visited before. Getting used to it now. When I was in Phuket I was told to try life in Isaan because it's much more friendly and laid back than tourist rip off Phuket. But when I arrived in my new home town the first two Isaanites I encountered overcharged me like a tourist.
I like it here but I don't see myself settling here.
i'm doing a trip to the big c today.....a 34 km round trip
^ Issan is cool, Henri... give it a chance mate... I love Isaan.
I just feel Toyland's best days are behind her... The current junta is slowly sucking the fun/life out of Thailand... quickly losing it's appeal.
That and I've matured... I think Japan is a grown-up, stable, secure older brother of Thailand. + once we are living there, it's a great base to travel to other places in Asia.. cheap too, as my missus works for a travel company.
I'm not dissing Thailand... it's fun in it's own chaotic, fooked up way... just kinda over it... need security in my life now.
Yes Dick here is OKay. The weather is cooler and less humid than Phuket, but only for another month from what I can see. Cloudy now and yesterday. I'm not looking forwards to the songkhran time. That is the hottest apparently.
I'm staying in a really nice little monthly rent house with paddy fields behind, about 20 kilometres from the place I'm volunteering at. It's a lovely ride through the countryside, and I've only nearly died three times.
good morning dick
i haven't been to issaan since i went to laos around ten years ago so i only passed through
where would you recommend other than the big cities....somewhere small and quiet and pretty for 2 nights or so
i like fishing
^ A town next to the Mekong for sure. I've been visiting Nakhin Phanom and Mukdahan quite a bit.
I recommend riding along the river banks. I don't know if it can be done all the way from Nong Kai down to Cambodia. I'll try it when I decide which bigger bike to buy. Probably a CB300.
^
cheers
mukdahan looks nice
^^^ There's a big lake just out of Sakon Nakhon, if you don't catch any fish you can always have a feed of dog.
Morning mate (well, arvo here in NZ) Hey, I thought you were living in Isaan, Nooners?
Not Isaan, but I like Uthai Thani (about 130 km from Bkk)... very small town, but lots of nice little restaurants, friendly outdoor pubs, etc..
How about Korat? or provinces near Korat (Pakchong, etc)...
I'm not much into big cities, my clubbing days are well behind me. Being more of a hermit like yourself haha... I spend most of my free-time playing BF4 online..

Ahhh fook... my bad.. I'm more a picture guy (words confuse my simple brain).. I thought CM was pretty much the best place in Thailand... metropolitan feel to it.. nice people, climate, etc..
*bet ya can't guess where I am now?
That place is really nice if you go to Mukdahan. A big mountaintop Buddha like the one in Phuket being built and great Mekong views.
Also a lovely landscaped garden with waterfalls and sculptured trees.
phu wiang & wiang kao - khon kaen have a nice place too come and join me here...

Japan is nothing like ThailandOriginally Posted by NZdick1983
^ ya got that right bro... Japan is the antithesis of Tryland.
To those of you that are becoming jaded/tired of Thailand, a quick jump over to the sensibility of Japan, will invigorate you and leave you refreshed to face the bah bah-bor - bor (craziness) of Thailand anew IMHO.
*Alternatively, Tramadol 100 mg also has a similar effect na Krup...
