Ever thought of knowing your Ancestry & DNA?

No I do not work for this company.

I saw an ad on TV and went to the website.

I am going to do it.

    Has anyone done this before?

You can know the specific regions (within continents and current nation-states) where your percentage of heritage is from.

Also, you will know how much Neanderthal DNA you have in you.

Also, some relatives will be noted.

    Is anyone curious? I am.

    It's $99 (in the US).

Bring your ancestry to life through your DNA.

Discover your ancestral origins and trace your lineage with a personalized analysis of your DNA.

Find relatives across continents or across the street.

Ever wonder who's related to you? You'll likely discover dozens or even hundreds of people who share DNA and ancestors. The matches you'll get can range from close family to distant cousins.

In rare cases, participation in DNA Relatives may reveal that you are related to someone whom you didnít expect, or that you are not related to someone in the way that you expected. Consider this before you opt in to this feature.

Neanderthal DNA lives on in us.

Even though Neanderthals vanished about 40,000 years ago, their DNA lives on in us. Based on research, they interbred with humans around 60,000 years ago and we are able to tell you how much of your ancestry can be traced back to Neanderthals.

    Neanderthal DNA percent

We estimate how much of your DNA is from Neanderthals and compare it to other users.

Learn about your maternal and paternal lineages.

You will discover your unique history from over 750 maternal lineages and over 500 paternal lineages. We trace everyone's maternal ancestry by a small portion of DNA passed down from mother to child. Males trace their paternal ancestry through the Y chromosome passed down from father to son. Both men and women receive information about both sides of their family from the other 22 chromosomes.

We were all spawned from alien experimentation.

Chances are we've all a little grey and reptilian running through our systems.

I think that jeff and laverna spawned from the same petri dish.

The spawn of buttplugs late night spooge fests in Chiang Mai. Both products of anal discharge.

My dad did some digging a few years ago.

Apart from me & my dad, three generations before that served in British India in the army. Generations before that fled Ireland, changed their names and settled in Newcastle

    (Apparently)....

My old man used to say 'the only one thing which you can be sure on is who your mother is'. My mother used to say 'you should always stick up for your father because he stuck up for you once.' They divorced.

My father did the geneolgy thing once. My roots go back to 14th century England. Apparently there is still a farm there in the area run by a family with the same surname.

Of course, now that the side effects of hormone treatment on young male athletes are better understood the practice is largely discontinued.

My old man did the DNA testing for maternal and paternal sides. He took the cheapest option and the results came as the number of links to other people in other countries with matching DNA, no more explanation to the numbers and what they mean. Your results might depend on the amount of money you pay and the number of other people in the company's database. Interestingly there are companies that also claim to be able to tell you what diet & exercise will suit you best from your DNA swab. I don't know how realistic that will be.

    Paternal results:
England 438, Ireland 401, Scotland 221, United Kingdom 182 ( not including England, Ireland and Scotland I think)Germany 114, Spain 90, France 77, Sweden 44, Wales 37, Norway 25, Northern Ireland 18, Australia 3 and a host of most European countries with smaller amounts.

    Maternal results:
Scotland 14, England 11, Ireland 10, then Canada and Native American 2 each and then Denmark, Germany and U.S.A on one

The furthest link goes back about 50k years ago to be about where Ukraine is now.
