    Koh Lipe questions

I know this isn't the travel section but the forum about Thai beaches etc hasn't had a reply since january, and I don't want this to go (hopefully) unanswered.

I want some of your opinions on this island.

Best place(s) to stay, from beach huts to resorts, I want all info available

Best beach? That Pattaya beach doesn't exactly get the pulses racing, in fact I'm baffled as to why they'd name it after such a rubbish dump.

Is weed easily available on the island? If so, where? Any contact names or numbers? Let me know via PM

What about going out for a drink?

Have backpackers ruined the island yet?

I know the scuba diving mob have a few places with accomadation, but I'd rather give those a miss as I don't want some smart [at][at][at][at] telling me how great he is for diving 5 metres down

Heading there in March. Booked into a place called Akira Resort, got a nice pool access room for a reasonable price.

Sunset, sunrise and Pattaya beaches are the main beaches.

Plenty of vids on YouTube and that guy Sunny in Thailand has a couple of good vids from his off season visits.

Looks like a place that will take off so best to get their while it is still a little hard to reach.

We will be catching the ferry over from Langkawi. It only runs during high season.

    Hope that helps.
You're fat,Ill fro you in the river

I stayed at Bundhaya Resort on Pattaya Beach last year and it was about THB3000 a night. Pretty good value for money considering you often pay similar for shacks on some of the Thai islands.

Pattaya Beach is nothing like the shithole it's named after and there are pleasant beach bars and restaurants all along its white sands. We took a walk to Sunset Beach one evening and we got murdered by mosquitoes. It wasn't worth it.

Some friends stayed at Sunrise Beach and they said that this was even better than Pattaya Beach (although either are pretty smart), so you might wanna consider that if you're too ashamed to have people hear you say you're going to Pattaya.

Walking Street, again nothing like its big brother, splits the two beaches and is lined with shops, bars, and restaurants where the service can be absolutely fucking awful. Even by Thai standards.

It was mostly families and couples when we were there (Christmas) with very few backpackers around. As for weed, yeah, there was a chap next to us in one of the bars toking quite openly.

I'm there last 2 days of Feb then heading to Koh Bulon Le, I booked 5 nights at the Pansand Resort there. The plan is to do nothing and sit about (I've earned it). Then back to Koh Lipe for two or three more nights and flying back to Bangkok.

I wanted some info from real people, rather than reading negative reviews like ''tea & coffee making facilities weren't great'' or ''staff didn't speak english very well''

Akira resort was one place I browsed, in fact one of two that I fancied. the other being Bella Vista. Still not booked a place yet, so might see you at breakfast one morning. (I'll be the one making multiple trips to the buffet)

    Thanks.

All this info's making me rethink my length of stay on Koh Lipe. After Koh Bulon Le I think I will need to let loose for 5 days or so.

Koh Lipe is probably my favourite Thai island at the moment. But, if you're hoping to party, carry on north.

I'd rather drown myself than visit any of those full moon islands.

It's a chill out trip, not a booze soaked tour of pubs like in the past, which is why Lipe & Bulon are perfect

I was there in April for the first time since 2010. It was shite. Akira is the best place to stay and there's a large place on the north beach too if you like stairs.

Nothing to do there, I'd have got a boat to Langkawi on the 2nd day but the Mrs didn't bring her fucking passport.
    Lang may yer lum reek...
