It comes from FEAR. The fear creates demand for perceived safety.Originally Posted by pickel
The safety can be purchased in a number of ways:
1. Give your arse to the bully
2. Pay the bully money
3. Praise the bully publicly
4. Ensure your bully is the best of the best, if not move over to the better bully
or
1. Promote the ability to have consensual relations

However, I think a good grovel and a clear understanding of who is the common enemy may stop this escalating further.
We are not going to war, we have been at war for 25 years. Think about that, this war started in 1990 and shows no sign of ever ending.
Apologies, I missed your reply earlier DrBob.
I thought I knew a little more than fuck all about T.E Lawrence, but I admit to not being an expert and I haven't read all his works. However, he was a favourite of my History master and I felt your reply was a little condescending, despite the ambiguous nature of my one-liner.
I was actually thinking more along the lines of him helping the Kurdish against IS...and the complexities that brings with the Turkish. I happen to believe his view that Arabs had been robbed of their promises for breaking up the Ottoman Empire and I believe that the formation and subsequent expansion of Israel was a fundamental mistake,,,despite their help during his campaigns.
But as you say...I know fuck all...

Two Russian pilots alive - Turkey | News24Two Russian pilots alive - Turkey

Ankara - The two pilots who ejected from a Russian war plane downed by Turkey on the Syrian border are believed to be alive and Turkish authorities are seeking to recover them, a government official said on Tuesday.
"Turkey has information that the two pilots are alive and right now Turkey is trying to recover them," the official told AFP, after reports that at least one of the pilots could have died after parachuting down inside Syria.
In Russia, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov just said "there is no official information" about the fate of the pilots from the downed plane.
CNN-Turk television said Syrian Turkmen forces fighting the Damascus regime had captured one of the pilots while Syrian opposition sources told AFP one had been killed by rebels and the second was missing.
In a separate incident, sources told AFP in Beirut that a Russian helicopter in the same area in Syria was destroyed by rebels on the ground after being forced to make an emergency landing following damage from rebel fire.
A Syrian military source told AFP that a unit of Syrian regime special forces saved the dozen-strong Russian commando team and brought them back to the regime stronghold of Latakia.

Lawrence wanted to be a story book Arab, he was the classic orientalising Englishman, a fantasist. Thesiger was free and independent, he wanted to, and did, live free. Both, of course, were bent as 9 bob notes. Thesiger travelled the world's empty places and understood what he saw, Lawrence played dress-up and dreamed of Faisals circumcised cock.
Pillows of Arabian sand biters.

The kind of programming the makes the Beeb a world leader, despite the de-facto gagging orders due to libel at home. Well worth a watch.
