    SMSs sucking off prepaid balance?

    SMSs sucking off prepaid balance?
I usually have a few hundred baht balance on my phone which typically never gets depleted.
Over the last couple of months have been receiving Thai language SMSs.
Yesterday wife at mamma’s house and tried to call….. zero balance.
Called on other phone to ask her to top up..Checked SMS …topped up 100baht.
Last night two SMSs from 4677556...balance down by 10+ baht …no calls made???
    Need to call AIS methinks….
Have disabled service messages, data etc but no provision to block #s.
    Check your phone's balance guys.

I wonder if phone shops have the ability to reverse credits made by phone...must be able to if they make an error in phone credit?

Happened to me two weeks ago - also AIS.

They sent me 2 messages a minute (@3bht a pop) untill the credit was all used up and actually went minus 18 bht.

The sim card is in the bin, and i have changed from AIS and cancelled internet as well.

If you are using AIS One-2-Call, you may receive a lot of SMS everyday.

Actually it will deduct your money and credit each time you received them.

They will charge you for 5 to 10 baht per message into your phone.

It will be charge about 500 to 600 extra fees per month. So I suggest you to remove them if you do not use it.

Most of the SMS are sending from these :-

    MusicLover
    SecretHoro
    4825901
    Tweet
    Info
    Bugfun
    MPack
    LovePoem
    N-Content
To remove those subscribe, just following the instruction below:

Call *137 using the current phone.
After the computer pickup the phone just Press 2
    Then press 1
You will receive the unsubscribe service message SMS within 2 days.

If you do not receive the message, please do again, if still have sms, you have to call 1175 Call center

I've have a friend that I talk to 2 or 3 times a day,he phones me or I phone him and he would call me straight back as he is on a 69 baht a week tariff where he can phone any 12call number but not between 6pm and 10pm. He has a habit of turning off his phone so when I phoned him I would get a " Welcome to call back service " message. I noticed my credit was going down and found out I was being charged every-time I got this message. I spoke to 12call and told them I didn't want this service but was told he had to remove this service from his phone so that I didn't get charged. So whenever you get a " Welcome to call back service " massage the when calling a friend or a number it's going to cost you about 4-5 baht a time.
There are lots of ways phone companies sting you with hidden charges, even if they are only small it's still dwindling away at your credit !!

Well did not get any SMSs yesterday or so far today…
These auto debit ad SMSs are certainly a lucrative business!
Don’t know how many prepaid customers AIS has or how many are targeted but doing simple math based on say a conservative 10,000 targeted customers by say two ads a day reaping say 30 baht/day.
    10000x 30 x 365 = 109,500,000 gross …from just one ad source….no small potatoes even if only 10% of that figure.!!!

Plus of course the AIS revenue for replacing the debit....

Don't bother with DTAC, they do the same thing. I was even getting the silly Thai language crap in the USA, and that no doubt cost me.

It certainly is a scam, Millions of people would be ignorant about this.

Exactly why I stay with this forum, once in blue moon some real good info pops up.

Amazing ..my effort to block did not work..told the wife will go to mobile shop..she says yes I tell them to block every time when I top up been happening to me longtime....AAAAH!!. Shop blocked the SMS number and got immediate SMS confirming.

Yes it is a scam but obviously AIS is in on it otherwise they would block...must be illegal but TIT. Strange Mr P has not tried to shut down AIS as part of his TS vendetta..maybe he has and was 'compensated' ..?

I got fed up having to top up every time I arrived at SUV after a 5 week hitch in Korea so I switched to pay monthly (AIS).

I keep it switched on while I'm in Korea and I receive SMS as I would in Thailand but don't answer to calls or use data roaming. My bills cost 535 baht every month regardless of how many calls I make, 3G I use or SMS I receive.

Pretty good deal in all fairness and no need to buy any more top up credit.

    Too easy innit Terry?

    Well,

I'd rather spend that amount on my great Internet connection which I do and just bang on 100 baht on my phone every now and then.

    That's to easy for me.

That's fair enough, I have internet installed at home and at my shop but if I'm using my phone I prefer to use the 3g. It's certainly faster during peak times down my way.
