    I Like Good Beer

Whatda Fuck, I'm half drunk again....
I do love good beer. Living in Thailand they are few and far, ain't they? This Coopers Sparkling Ale ain't half bad. Our young curmudgeon, MtD might not agree, but he likes Leo, and he is Brit. Now we all know them Brits like drinking Warm, Flat Piss. Give a 'em bit of hop and weight in their beers They just go girly, start fuckin' whining.

I like a beer with some weight to it. Dunno if “weight” is all that accurate, works for me. This is a beer I enjoy watching those last, few, brown dregs drain into the glass. Let it set a bit, warm up just a tad. Now this Coopers here, not the greatest beer of all time is still a nice change from anything else available in this country, don't hardly stand up to a good California Brew (guess same could be said about California Weed, eh?), But it is goddam good after 5 years of drinking... (fuck! can't think of another word!) shit.

I suffer from insomnia, one them fellers that “thinks too much.” I have found self medication works best for me. About 1:00 Am or thereabouts I'll head out for a couple bottles of chaang to ease my passing to unconsciousness. Without a handful of some bargirl or the company of interesting people I find choking down more'n a couple of any 7-11 beers. Never enough to knock me out. I just chug 'em down run for the sack, get up twenty minutes later.

I went to my favorite local western market, Rim Ping in Chiang-mai, they had a big new shipment of Coopers on the shelves. Mighty god-damned proud of they were too, raised the fuckin' price 30 Baht a fuckin bottle, they did. I had the cart half full before I noticed the price. 115 Baht for one fucking bottle of beer??? ARE THEY FUICKING NUTS???? Pissed me off. I am not an addict!

Next day, Saturday. Gotta entertain the ol' lady, She loves Carrefour (I think this market-base society needs a gathering point). I fuckin' hate 'shopping.' Nice particle board 'accessories' there babe, yep that wok made out of pounded beer cans oughta be a real neat.... Fuck me! I hate “shopping.'

The old lady gets to look at things, so do I. Fucked up as it is, I love this country! Wandering around the aisles, Getting my fill of eye candy, I stumbled into the beer section. They'll usually have a decent selection of imported stuff... A half a shelf of Coopers Sparkling Ale, at the old price.

    I bought the fuckers out..

Good beer. Cooper's Sparkling Ale. I can drink this, it's like good beef stew or chili. It just tastes so fucking good. I'm on my fifth bottle. I've been drinking for about 90 minutes. I think I'll beat the sun to bed. Thing is, the beers so good I want to stay up and have few more.

    frankie,
I'd think you need a coopers home brew kit , a stainless steel brewing keg , an old fridge , a tap and a bottle of CO2.

Homebrew, Coopers homebrew beers and ales. Mix, brew, bottle.

I've started drinking Heineken. Is doesn't give you the same "impending doom" feeling the next day as Chang does.

"Sparkling" Ale - my goodness, the name is foreboding, I'd never touch anything like this.

No wonder the Brits like it, a bit like the lager back home, I reckon.

Actually, I just checked and it is Singapore where your Tiger & Heineken is made. Thailand where ours is made. They make the Guinness in Malaysia. Mmmm, Guinness....

Tiger for me, if i can get it at bars or wherever I am. The best of a bad bunch.
I would drink any of the beer Lao range instead of Tiger at the drop of a hat.
Not enough choice or quality here is there?

Not much choice here in Korat unless you go to one of the farang operated pubs. I usually drink Leo at home as the local mini-mart doesn't carry Tiger, which is my current pick when out. I like the Chang Draft in bottles, but it's not easy to find.

Ms. B brought home a couple of cans of Beer Lao the other day and that was, relatively speaking, beer heaven.

Beer Lao deservedly ranks in the world class.

So does San Miguel, sometimes you'd find some Red Horse in the LOS, the only beverage which sends me over the edge as Lao Kao does.

The mini-mart here is selling Archa at 7 cans for 100 baht. I tried it once but it had an odd flavor to me. A bit to sweet? Maybe I'll try it again tonight. Only an hour or so to happy hour....

Very funny. Drinkable purely because it has absolutely no taste, same with Asahi. It doesn't give one a hangover either, which is nice.
