Could Stone age man have built these?

Spooky. I wonder what Von Daniken would make of it all?

Back in 2007, a series of huge, mysterious geoglyphs were discovered in the grasslands, or steppes, of Kazakhstan. Formed by human-made mounds, divots, and trenches, the structures create giant images that can be seen from the sky, including shapes that look like crop circles, squares, and swastikas. Archaeologists estimate they were created around 8,000 years ago, but have no idea who built them, or why.

Now NASA has taken the first photos of the Steppe Geoglyphs from space, and has admitted that its scientists are no closer to solving the mystery. But they're going to keep investigating, because the answer could reshape our understanding of early humanity.

The glyphs were first discovered by amateur archaeologist Dmitriy Dey back in 2007 using Google Earth, and about 260 of them have been found since. But what makes them interesting enough for NASA to get involved is the fact that they were made so long ago - the Nazca Lines in Peru, by comparison, were only built around 1,500 years ago.

And as far as we're aware, the only humans living in this region of Kazakhstan back then were nomadic Stone Age tribes, whom researchers don't think were sophisticated enough to build anything like this.
NASA can't explain who made these huge, 8,000-year-old structures in Kazakhstan - ScienceAlert

    Two things...

If you can draw a shape with a stick in the sand it's not an impossible feat to scale that up and with organisation draw it over an area where only 'spacemen' could view it.

    and..

Caucasian, definition: racial classification of humans originating form the Caucasians of Southern Russia

Von Daniken thought it possible that humans were were farmed or bred for selective reasons and was the cause of mans sudden leap forward in intelligence, he suspected that one area this took place was in the Caucasus, right next to Kazakhstan.

    That is all
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Even if they could build these, the two questions are:

Did they have the level of intelligence required?

    Why the fuck?

I believe that God left certain drugs growing naturally upon our planet to help speed up and facilitate our evolution. Okay, not the most popular idea ever expressed. Either that or you’re real high and agreeing with me in the only way you can right now. “I forgot the code, is it two blinks yes, one blink no?” Do you think magic mushrooms growing atop cow shit was an accident? Where do you think the phrase, ‘that’s good shit’ came from? Why do you think Hindus think cows are holy? Holy shit! That’s Gods little accelerator pad for our evolution. - Bill Hicks

This is such a non-story and really quite silly but I suppose somewhat typical of the National Geographic TV Channel/Readers' Digest school of thought.

Neolithic development of homo sapiens was established in the Middle East/Central Asia by 11000 BC when man first began farming as a means of sustaining his tribe. I rather think if one can formulate a plan whereby crops can be cultivated, stored and milled into food then one could have the ability to establish a fucking straight line in a fucking field using the sun and a fucking stick in the ground.

Jesus, it's only 12,000 years ago - homo sapiens has been kicking around in one form or another for over 750,000 fucking years although I do acknowledge the Welsh are somewhat more challenged.

Why oh why do folk try to manufacture such a spurious mystery or imply some extra-terrestrial intervention. Fucking Hollywood, I suppose.
