What would you do without your phone?

Love 'em or hate 'em, smartphones and tablets are here to stay. The proliferation of handheld devices is a global phenomenon. Although top-end models can be pretty costly, the entry price to get yourself a tablet or phone is actually pretty accessible. Add to that the convenience that these devices offer and it's not hard to see their appeal.
That being said, there are several downsides to our love of handheld devices too. We're tuned out of what's going on around us and the constant access to entertainment has made many of jaded and easily bored. Perhaps the biggest pet peeve people have though is the fact that our phones have made us less connected and attentive to the people around us.
The fact that this sight is so common is the theme of photographer Eric Pickersgill's work. He took pictures of people in everyday situations, but removed the phones from their hands to create a series of images titled “Removed,” with the goal being to cause the viewer to really start questioning our tech addiction.

The dreaded last day of term, carrying your body weight in confiscated paraphernalia home.

I have only a dumb phone, which I rarely use or carry, so no worries.

Now if my Kindle crashed, that would be a crisis.

I have the most basic mobile. No camera. I use it to phone the missus if I need assistance. Which is rarely. I wouldn't miss it if I lost it.

Life got on and people were still able to communicate with one another long before the obsessive conditioning and affliction of mobile gadgetry - life, cognitive process, connections, etc.....

Nope - don't have a phone, either. Can't stand the things - or the people that yak away into their plastic cases while blocking your way - cvnts. My fav is to walk into the twats dawdling along with head down (that is, if they don't walk into me, first), staring into their phone and touching it, as tho they're caressing a flat crystal ball.

Even worse, the stupid fecks that drive motorbikes/cars/trucks and even buses while talking or gawking into their smartphone. Wankers the lot of them - and a danger to all.

    'ave a nice weekend, eh...

I've only recently (last 18 months) got a smart phone.

I wouldn't be without it either.

I can understand people not wanting one or not having one, but they are missing out.

Back on topic, if I didn't have one I'd just go back to books and the laptop / desktop. Not the end of the world.

I have an old Nokia phone. If my friends want to call me or I want to call them I use it, other than that, my computer is at home. I've seen too many examples of people stuck on smart phones who don't even talk to their friends sitting next to them. SO SAD these people are.

If you liked that you should download Kevin Pilkingtons Moaning of life, series 2 episode one, where these *arttsts" use the naked human body, dog shit and puke to remonstrate their ideas
