    Going home after 15 years

Well after 15 years of Thailand l am heading home with the family.
Mainly for the kids education and aging parents.
Going to be a costly move, house, furniture, car, toys but looking forward to it, will be living out in the country side farming community.
Will be retaining property's and motor vehicles in Thailand so we can pop back for a holiday now and then.
Start the visa process in a 4 weeks time for the wife, but can't see any issue there with husband and kids with Aussie passports.

with kids involved, it is a very wise move indeed.

thailand is no more than a playground, a poorly kept playground at that with many sharp stones and pitfalls for the unwary.

a few years spent in initial ecstasy and wonderment, followed by few years of sober realisation that with the limited opportunities offered to foreigners here one soon must accept that most aspirations will be thwarted, (unless of course those aspirations consist of no more than beer, pussy, a love and trust of the superficial and a reliable air conditioning engineer) and then when the depressing funk sets in, a couple of years planning ones exit and accepting that although thailand is a decent enough gaff for a holiday or a location for a holiday home, it is certainly no place for a westerner with a brain, some common sense and a taste for a civilised life amongst decent people to put down roots .

good luck with your move, i doubt you will regret it, and your kids will certainly thank you once they see the myriad opportunities for education, growth, responsibility and development presented to them as citizens of a developed country
as opposed to a brainwashed blinkered existence in a corrupt backwater controlled by a small group of privileged officials and their thuglike mafia henchmen.

Will you move the house in one piece or have a different container for each floor and the roof?

    Victoria,
Reminds me of a mate of mine who was asked by a lady at the pub "What State in Australia do you come from"

    He replied

"There are only two states in Australia....Victoria and pissed"

I've never met an Aussie that drinks Fosters.

Good luck with the move Rigger.
