Do contributions still get paid, for results.

Do people still pay to the school fund for the advancement and good results to schools for there children here in Thailand.?

The Op is serious just Jeff being his same old self.

My Son moves onto secondary school next year, and I want to avoid this situation like the plague,I'd prefer to let him learn and achieve for himself, I'd heard a few years ago from teachers it was happening and wondering if things have changed.

I've already spoke with him a little about when he goes to secondary school its time for him to put his head down, stay away from the bad kids and respect his teacher.

Just wanting to find out if its still going on.

I think paying the school for false results would send the wrong message to the child.

If the child struggles with certain subjects then sure pay for some extra-curricular help. Not everyone's child can be a brain surgeon/rocket scientist/pick your own cliche.

The most important thing is that the child learns that effort is rewarded, regardless of the level of the effort. Trying their best seems to be in decline led by, it seems. mainly US "the second place guy is the first loser" nonsense.

I pay from my son to go to a private school. He's starting a new one in October and they waived the 10k 'signing on' fee for us.

Otherwise, the other fees are clearly laid out and acceptable (except paying for that shit Thais call food).

    I can't do it....

I've been teaching in government schools/language centers in Thailand now for 13 years.

I was going to actually formulate a proper answer to this utterly retarded question with a brief synopsis of how the grading system works here and then I realized if the OP has had children in school in Thailand, he should already know the answer to his 'tarded question.

Jeff's right, surprisingly. The answer is yes. When did you think the practice had changed, HH?

Where do most children here get their first lessons in corruption? From their parents and teachers.

    Yep...
And then, surprisingly, some Thais have a different take that you wouldn't be expecting - dissolving your ingrained general stereotypes and bias.

    Imagine that.
Things aren't what they appear to be.

    How so?

You asked if grades can be bought. Several answered your question in the affirmative (that means yes). Why do you think there's any delusions going on, oh wise one?

One teacher's opinion does not make a significant survey sample.

I'm wondering what's a real Thai teacher is in HH's opinion...and how he'd know the difference between what's a real teacher and what's not.

I keep seeing a certain persons name on the thread though he's on my ignore list now, though he persists in trying to engage me in conservation.

Some people just don't get it.

No doubts about your teacher friend.
Yet, I believe you're missing the point of Wills comment.
