Will the divorce be contested or uncontested? If uncontested (both agree to divorce and child custody, asset split, etc.) you may not need a lawyer. Won't even go to court.

If contested you need to file petition to court. Yes. Get a lawyer. Sorry can't help recommending an Ubon lawyer.

If at all possible come to agreement with spouse so uncontested can be done as most in Thailand. Much simpler.

Norton Basically we got as far as the Amphur entrance and she decided she didn't want to do, so she was informed that if she didn't finish the papers I would start divorce proceedings.

She has been informed that I don't want anything from the Divorce as everything should be for the Children for there future, she understands that I will always take care of the kids, though informed the monthly payment will be reduced to only cover the Children.

Has also been told if she doesn't finish the papers and the emotional blackmail I will go after assets of the estate and if her threats don't cease on me not being able to see the children i will go after custody.

I am being more than fair to her, though she is holding onto something that no longer exists, Oh the joys of marrying a Nutter.

A letter to kick her in the ass? All you need for that is a decent translator. May work but not legally binding to her. She can simply ignore it.

To start the divorce legally you need to file required docs at court. The court will then notify her you have started divorce proceedings.

She understands exactly whats going on.

I understand i have to file the docs with the court, but would prefer going another route first to make her understand, don't want all the shit that goes with the court route, its taken me around two years to make her understand that there is nothing left in the marriage and she has to let go.

If the letter don't do anything and we can't finish it Amicably then i go to court.

    Now Just want it finished.

    Jesus Jacky,

Sounds terribly serious. Good luck with it.

Life is way to short to be spent being unhappy so better to just go your own way.

Aren't you going about this the wrong way Yaso, lieyers here are con men.
What grounds are you going to file for divorce on, as you hold the purse strings, it's her that needs to divorce you, to get money.

Look at it from a different point of view, is it your house, move back in, as I posted some where.
Mad yank, told his wife to fuk off, she came back with the police, police told her, it's a civil matter, she wants the house, land etc it's a civil matter.
6 months on, she's in Pattaya, he's in the house.
She's the one that want's to deal now.

Your wife needs a court order to stop you seeing your kids, balls in her court, money, custody etc just move back in.

If you are worried about the outlaws coming after you, in form the police formally in writing.
Much cheaper in the long run, also look at the land titles, did you sign away your claim, if not go to the land office and tell them, she's broken the law.
Or threaten to, it's a criminal offence for a Thai not to inform the land office they are married to an alien when buying land.

Do you have a paper trial for the house construction, if so it's your house.
Let her do the costs of lawyers and courts, think she will make a deal then.

James its easier to just give her everything i don't want anything,I not need anything she's just tried it on with me just a minute ago, told me to take the Kids the UK,I said ok but you have to sign everything over to my eldest son,the look was enough.

My kids and my own sanity is more important.

If i could of just got her inside the Amphur door I'd be on a big bender by now.

There's not right or wrong way of doing this, she is shit scared of having to go and finding independence, my kids mean everything to me, and not want them to have fucked up heads because of there parents.

Unfortunately have never used a Lawyer in Ubon, and don't know any HH. There is a lawyer with an English sign on the Ubon-Trakhan Rd (Rte 5050) but I wouldn't know him/her from a bar of soap.

Terry She's a good mum, can't take that go away from her she's just fucked in the head regarding relationships, I was prepared to stay with her if she fucked off from her family.

she says many crazy things though, it would break her heart for her kids to be taken away from her.

She has been offered a better life in another city, with me financing a business for her, and with the offer of her daughter going to stay with her and working together.

Some may say I'm a mug,but I'm prepared to make sacrifices for my kids.

Tell you Terry if it comes to it,I'll become a renter like yourself

She won't go the amphor way, it's a 50/50 split and agreed child custody etc, they, the amphor won't sign off unless it a fair equal deal for both parties.

If you don't want any thing and she say's you can have the kids, take them and move to Ubon, simple.
Depending on how your house, land was purchased, she probably needs your consent to sell anything, land office needs husband and wife to sign off, as it's communal property.
Your kids will inherit in the end.

I used a lawyer for a business issue in Ubon but found him fairly useless. This type of thing may be more his thing though, I don't know.

I have a number but it was a few years ago. 084360 4342. His office was down the soi along side the temple that has the flee market every Wednesday morning in Ubon on Saphasit Rd.
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.

I wish you all the best with it and hope it can be sorted quickly. These things are not easy and tend to drag on even when all parties are in agreement. Good luck.

    Just thinking the same.
Reputable lawyer: a term of contradiction.

Nonetheless, sad to hear your dilemma, Jacky.
Finish it asap without a troubled soul.

Hoping the next one is more amiable and sound of character [without baggage and drama].

    Best to ya...

Why divorce her? That is, unless you intend to remarry.? If not, leave things as they are. She'll come to you eventually.
