This was the title of a book written in 1932 based on US citizens life expectancy increasing to 60 years of age at the time it was written. Today the life expectancy for the US is around 79 years of age.
Average life expectancy for Thais has increased from 60 years in 1970 to nearly 75 years today.
My current partner was 42 when we met and I was 55. She has had some typical Thai health issues and I fully expect it will be a race to the line as to which one of us gets BBQ'd first. Having said that global figures show women living longer than men anyway. Just so they can get the last word in I suspect.
World Life Expectancy
The site in the link shows some interesting causes of death as well as global life expectancy. The colour codes highlight a number of 'Western' diseases prevalent only in the 1st world. While we in the west suffer from any number of chronic illnesses, some of the highest death rates in Thailand are linked to road traffic accidents
Such a fascinating subject that I completely forgot what I was originally looking for.
